Dear friends,
My wife, my son, my sister-in-law and her son and I headed for the famous Prohodna cave yesterday.
Prohodna, also known as God's eyes, is a cave near the village of Karlukovo, Lukovit municipality, Lovech region, Bulgaria.
Prohodna is one of the most famous caves in Bulgaria, located near the village of Karlukovo (0.5 km). It has been filmed many times. Dozens of Bulgarian and foreign film productions, series and video clips were shot in the cave, some of which are "Time of violence", "Boris I", the French large-scale production "Vercingétorix: La Légende du druide roi", the American" The Way Back", the Soviet-Bulgarian film " On the Trail of Captain Grant' and many others.
The geological phenomenon is located 250 meters above sea level. The cave is easily accessible and passable in all seasons of the year.
From the road one cannot tell that there is a huge cave just 500 metres away.
When we came closer a clever salesman offered us watermellon for free
The watermellon was really delicious in the summer heat and we decided to buy some on out way back /which was the goal of the clever salesman, he was very nice though/
We met a few professional climbers from Serbia who were preparing to climb the steep entrance of Prohodna.
Then we entered the cave ourselves
The beauty of this place is stunning.
"The Eyes of God,” two huge, nearly equal-sized, eye-shaped openings. Viewed both from below and from above, they very much resemble eyes that seem to "stare" at the visitor.
Here`s a brief video we shot there:
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!
