PUSH-UPS AND SIT-UPS EXERCISE: FITNESS FRIDAY
I've always been motivated to get up and exercise after watching my friend do push-ups. More often than not, I joined him but sometimes opted for other workouts.
Through my observations, I've noticed that people who exercise regularly tend to fall ill less easily. They're generally stronger, sharper, and more active. However, exercise isn't a common routine for everyone; it requires discipline, consistency, and determination to turn it into a habit. The key is to start small with the simplest exercises that you can do without much struggle, and then gradually progress to more challenging routines.
I found that push-ups and sit-ups are excellent choices that don’t require too much effort. You can find a comfortable spot in your bedroom and get started with these exercises. I remember one morning after my devotion; the first thing that popped into my mind was to do some push-ups. I did them before heading to the bathroom to brush my teeth, take a shower, and get ready for work. This illustrates how effective push-ups and sit-ups can be.
Both push-ups and sit-ups target multiple muscle groups, such as the chest, shoulders, arms, and core. By practising them regularly, you’ll build strength, endurance, and flexibility, significantly enhancing your overall quality of life.
If you stick to it every day, you’ll also:
Reduce Your Risk of Injury and Pain
Your core acts as your body’s protective barrier against injuries. Strengthening it provides support to the rest of your body, diminishing the likelihood of getting hurt. Strong, flexible trunk muscles can also lead to quicker recovery times.
Recently, I met a friend who is studying Physiotherapy at university. I sat down with her to discuss what inspired her to choose this field.
Physiotherapy, also known as physical therapy, involves treatment and healing through physical methods like exercise and massage. This healthcare profession focuses on promoting, maintaining, and restoring health through patient education, physical interventions, disease prevention, and health promotion. It has various specialities, including musculoskeletal, orthopaedics, cardiopulmonary, neurology, endocrinology, sports medicine, geriatrics, paediatrics, women’s health, wound care, and electromyography.
She mentioned that she plans to specialize in paediatrics, which deals with children's healthcare. Initially, she wanted to study Nursing Science, but after a serious illness that landed her in the hospital, her passion for nursing waned due to her experiences and interactions with some of the nurses there.
As our conversation turned toward fitness, she emphasized that some illnesses could be alleviated through exercise. Unfortunately, many people remain unaware of this, which has led to various health issues. She educated me on the importance of fitness, and our discussion was both impactful and rewarding.
At the moment, I am dedicating myself to enhancing my overall fitness levels. I have found that adopting a healthier lifestyle not only benefits me but can also inspire those around me. As I embark on this journey, I am actively encouraging others to join me in prioritizing their health and well-being. Together with @fcfitness , we can support and motivate each other toward our fitness goals.
