This is the tiled indoor pool of the Hearst Castle called the Roman Pool. It is decorated with statues of Roman gods and goddesses around it.
William Randolph Hearst, the publishing tycoon lived here from 1920 until 1947. The Hearst Castle is known for its opulence, hosting fabulous parties for the rich and famous during that era. It is now a museum owned and operated by the California State Park. It is open to the public but we joined one of the guided tours for a fee.
