Hey!
I heard about a writing platform weeks ago from this amazing person whom I call brother @jjmusa2004. I love you so much egbon mi (my brother). I am also very grateful to @monica-ene for onboarding me and for her support.
Prior to this I have been writing to post on my Whatsapp status. I find writing as a way of expressing myself, to gain clarity to my innermost thoughts; sometimes to vent and sometimes to find peace. In the past, communicating was so difficult, I like to bottle up my feelings and thoughts, so I end up not processing most times. This has affected a lot of relationships and it has affected me as well. Until one day I discovered writing out how I feel at a particular moment especially when I am overwhelmed by such feelings, helped me to find relief.
I have been told a few times to document my write-ups and share them with the world. I am more into narrative writing and a little of expository writing and I am so excited to start this journey on Hive. This is also an incredible opportunity for me to improve my writing skills and hopefully develop other ways of writing expressively. Humans, we must never forget how to express ourselves for we are going to be lost without it.
What motivates me to write are people. I see people going through different experiences each day where they find themselves unable to express themselves and convey their feelings with words. I am not an expressive person but writing has made communication easier for me not only to my family but to also my friends and colleagues at work.

My name is Obafaiye Sarah and I am from Kogi state, in the North central part of Nigeria. I am about six-feet tall and you can find a dimple on my face when I smile. My height has always made me so self-conscious, in the sense that most people perceive me as distant and proud and tough whereas I don’t even want to be seen. I am the first child out of three, all females and I am so proud of us.
Laughing out loud, what do I do for a living? I am a Sonographer and I currently work in one of the major LGA (Local government area) in Kwara state, Nigeria.
My hobbies include singing, reading, scoring music some times and sleeping – yes, sleeping. I have deep fear of heights and bodies of water larger than my bathtub.
As you can see, my pen name is SMC. Arike Oba is a nickname which only my family uses. My family is an important part of me, for I believe I wouldn’t have been me without them.
It is my wish to pursue the expressive form of writing, to bring out our deepest, darkest thoughts. To convey the feeling of fear, joy, despair, pain, loneliness and peace with my words. Doubts? Yes. I solely write to express and to also say to everyone that ‘hey, you are not alone and time doesn’t stay still so things will definitely change. There is light at the end of every tunnel’.

I wonder where my own tunnel ends though?
Your likes and comments would be of immense support to me.
My writing journey begins…..
