WOULD I? (Weekend Engagement - Week 172)

in #hive-168869last year

Would I have sex for money to feed my family if they were starving? The honest answer is no. I have always prided myself on being a hardworking lady. My parents raised us early to think for ourselves, learn skills, and do labor. There were times during my childhood where I would wash a neighbour’s car and get something as a form of payment. I would rather beg for a job—any legal job—so I could feed my starving family.

My pride is important, and as the current head of my immediate family, I have younger ones looking up to me for guidance, and I cannot act in a manner that is derogatory to us. We were taught to value hard work and honesty above all things, and as females, we were taught the hard way. We would run the mom’s shop when we were back from school and while we were on holidays, and we were held accountable for every sale and loss made at the shop. We learned the importance of having our own money and working for it. We also learned skills like computer literacy, baking, cooking, and selling wares.

While I was in university, I ran a small event decoration squad; my younger sister did assignments or projects for others for money; and my youngest sister sold wares as a side hustle before even starting university.

We had to be this way because most societies aren’t always kind to women, and whatever is yours, so long as it is gotten legally, can never be taken away from you.

I would work so hard, do multiple jobs, and even obtain loans to feed my starving family if it meant keeping my pride and integrity intact. My family cannot starve, though; we all work hard.

Would I have sex for money to save my family from certain death? Yes. This is because life is on the line, not just our stomachs. If I am unable to obtain loans for an important surgery and health insurance cannot cover it, I would have sex for money as the last resort. Of what use are my pride and integrity when the lives of my family are at stake? There is just that moment where you would do anything short of taking a life to get money. It is hard to admit, but it is true. My family is a close-knit one, and they are all I have, and I would do almost anything for them.

Thank you for your time😊😊

It is very important that you know your value and above all that you understand that there are always options, hard work always brings rewards and it is also good to educate ourselves enough to be able to diversify our methods to generate income. I congratulate you for being an integral person and I wish you the best in your life and your personal projects.
