Hello friends;
Splendid evening to you all,how are we all fairing, trust our day was productive as mine was, it’s been a tough week and here we are another amazing new week before us, I pray this new week favors us. I had the stress of my life moving here and there trying to get people’s outfit fixed, thank God I succeeded at long last and that week is gone for ever, now here’s another week and it’s indeed a great pleasure posting to you guys once again on the community.
So friends yesterday was Sunday and Sundays for me are my sight seeing day, after church I do take my time out to go visit place around, so yesterday i decided to go visit our electric -library, popularly call e-library.Taking my thought back to how helpful this place has been for me, throughout my days in school, I decided to do some underground research about this library.
This electric-Library was established in 2012. It’s was Built by the previous governor of the state,( His excellency chief Dr. God’swill Obot Akpabio) previous governor of Akwa Ibom State. He was a very peaceful man that really picked interest in the educational sector of our state, the free education we now enjoy now was Courtesy of His excellency during his reign as the Governor of the state, children were no more selling on the streets during school hours dew to lack of school fees, during his administration he put an end to paying of school fees, it’s was now free and compulsory education for all. During the National Good Governance Tour in Akwa Ibom State, one thing that stands out among numerous projects inspected was the completion of the N7.5 billion electronic library, or e-Library constructed by the state government. This state now own the first digital library in West Africa, and one of the biggest digital libraries in Africa.
It’s runs 24 hours power supply, fully electrified at all times,According to the management, the edifice has an outstation facilities supported by 10 power generators as well as workshop.
It’s has an oil and gas training center too.
It has over 30,000 materials that covers literature and facility for e-conferencing. This is backed by an outstations supported by mobile library. At these outstations, users can hook up with the central station to obtain whatever material they needed, from it’s foundation, the user’s capacity was around 1,000 users capacity. The landscape was a 4.8 hectres of land. It’s was laid on September 25, 2007 and commissioned by the previous President of Nigeria ( president Godluck ebele Jonathan).
This library is a five(5) story building with a basement floor supported by internet access that covers five kilometers radius real time and has over 70,000 subscription for electronic materials.
It also has an inbuilt smart class and language learning centre. The main aim for embarking on the multi billion naira project was to place Akwa Ibom state on an educational advantaged level among its peers.
I do frequent the library when I Was still in high-school at that time. So yesterday I decided to go have a look at how things are being done over there, since it was a while I visited so friends I want to share with you all a the little I know about this place.
This place has been super helpful to not just to me alone but to millions of students still in school and ones that were done from school, am actually a living testimony has to how this e-library has really help me through my school days, as at that time I didn’t really have money for handouts and textbooks 📚 to read for my exams but when once I just visit this place, I just use the computer to do all my research and also there lots of books too there that you could use to cover so many topics, I’m one of the beneficiaries of this library, I learnt to use computer from here, I learnt so many things from here too. There’s books of all categories here both online and offline. There’re steady computers for further research.
When I was in school, I didn’t worry at all, I just get back from school, freshen up and move straight to this library to study till evening and I leave. This place is also open for people who love studying at night, you can come here and study all through the night and leave the following morning, it’s open at all times and for all too. The most interesting areas of the library are the children gallery and reading areas.they have fast learning equipment for the children.
To ensure that every user maximize the opportunity, every user is issued automated card for access. So I asked a staff In case where books are stolen how will the management get to know he said an alarm will blow to alert the management that a book has been stolen. The facilities here are super amazing.
There’re professor staffs working there too, that assist the students in there research, they also clarify things to our understanding, cause there’re times when we read but didn’t understand, the staffs helps in breaking it down to our understanding. The most interesting part is that every services in the e-library is free including the textbooks and the devices, you can even sign home some textbooks and handouts when you’re done you return them back to the library. It’s always a fun place to meet up with friends, read and get to know one another, I have built lots of memories in the place.
