For this week's Share Your Battle challenge we have the Crypt Beetle card that has a low mana cost and an incredible ability to defend itself.
Edition: Chaos Legion.
Rarity: Common.
Deck: Death.
Attack type: Melee.
Abilities: Shield
Mana Cost: 3.
As you can see its attack type is melee and its only ability is Shield so the Crypt Beetle will be that type of card that you will use to defend in the first position when the battle doesn't have much mana to use, but there are other ways to use this amazing card that I will show in this post in a battle. Before I will talk more about your Shield ability.
Despite being the only ability this card has, it is extremely strong when it comes to defense because the Shield ability reduces the melee and ranged damage received by the Crypt Beetle and this damage is reduced by half, so if a card that has 2 attack melee or ranged attack it then the damage dealt will be 1 instead of 2, if the card has 3 attack then the damage would be 1.5 but it's not possible to do that damage in Splinterlands so the value is rounded up and becomes 2, basically this is the logic behind this ability and you can be sure that it is incredibly useful in battles because melee and ranged cards are used so often.
in the image above you can have a better view of the levels of the card and as you can see it is not the type of card that draws a lot of attention at level 1 but at higher levels it becomes increasingly useful being an even better defensive card already that has more health and shield, and also a better offensive card because it has more attack.
For the battle I will use the Crypt Beetle in the level that despite not being very strong will be very useful in battle.
BATTLE
To be the summoner I chose Thaddius Brood which decreases the magic attack and the health of my opponent's cards by 1, in this battle having the magic attack decreased will not have an effect on my opponent because he has only 1 card of this type and it has 1 attack so it is not affected, but having his cards health reduced by 1 will be very useful.
For the first position I chose Cursed Windeku which is very popular in this deck and an amazing card and as my opponent has a lot of melee cards then your Thorns ability will be a great choice
For the second position I chose the Silent Sha-Vi which is a melee card with the Sneak ability that makes it attack my opponent's card positioned in the last position so it will be useful to attack his back lines.
For the third position I chose Life Sapper which is a card with magic attack that has the Life Leech ability that makes him gain life when he attacks a card so it will be very useful for him to accumulate life.
For fourth position I chose Soul Strangler which is a ranged attack card that has no abilities but its mana cost is low and its attack is good.
For the fifth position I chose Goblin Chariot which is also a ranged card that has no abilities but has a good attack.
For the sixth and last position I chose the Crypt Beetle which as I mentioned before will be very useful to defend with its Shield ability.
BATTLE
In this battle, the Crypt Beetle will have an important role, which is to defend my opponent's attacks that attack the back line. As it has 2 cards with the Sneak ability that attack the enemy card positioned in the last position and both are melee, so having the Crypt Beetle positioned on it will be a great defense and even if it doesn't attack from that position it will still be incredibly useful.
Both sides chose the death deck and the same summoner but they have a few different cards and that made all the difference in the battle.
Round 1:
In the first round my opponent's Death Elemental card was the first to attack and as it has the Snipe ability it attacked my Life Sapper which was defeated since it had only 1 life so he couldn't be very useful in battle and not even be able to enjoy your Life Leech ability.
On my opponent's side he lost the Xenith Archer card that suffered an attack from Silent Sha-Vi and was defeated and also the Cursed Windeku card that was his main defense since it was the card that was in the first position and had the highest life.
Crypt Beetle received two attacks this round, one from Silent Sha-Vi and one from Undead Badger and survived both attacks, so it was an excellent choice for him there because if it was another card receiving that attack it would have been defeated and a huge loss for my cards.
Round 2:
In the second round it was my Soul Strangler's turn to be the victim of Death elemental and as he had only 1 life he was defeated.
On my opponent's side, his Silent Sha-Vi was defeated and the Undead Badger also so the Crypt Beetle's usefulness for the battle was reduced as the two cards that attacked him were defeated, so now he will only have usefulness in the first position.
Round 3:
In the third round Death Elemental wasn't able to defeat one of my cards this time because its target was Goblin Charlot and it had 2 health.
On my opponent's side he lost his last two cards on the field which were the Damphir Stalker and the Death elemental and the battle was over.
Although the Crypt Beetle is a card that is usually placed in the front line, it can also be very useful in the last position if your opponent has cards like this battle, so it's a matter of strategy and for this battle it was incredibly important to the battle. victory.
