Family trip
The last time I went through the Calabozo dam with my family was 6 years ago, it is an obligatory way to go to Apure state, where part of the family that lives in the plains of Venezuela is located and it is the land that saw my mom born and grow up until she was 9 years old.
Going to this part of the country is to reconnect with family and memories of my roots, this was a trip that I owed to my mom and my grandmother, it is about 6 hours drive from where we live and I had to pay two cabs to take us because my grandmother is a senior citizen with more than 91 years and my mom is also an elderly person with health conditions, I wanted to take them on the trip in the best conditions.
Viaje familiar
La última vez que pase por la represa de Calabozo con mi familia fue hace 6 años, es una vía obligatoria para ir al estado Apure, donde se encuentra parte de la familia que vive en los llanos de Venezuela y es la tierra qué vio nacer y crecer a mi mamá hasta los 9 años.
Ir a esta parte de país es reencontrarse con la familia y los recuerdos de mis raíces, este era un viaje que le debía a mi mamá y a mi abuela, queda aproximadamente a 6 horas en carro de donde vivimos y tuve que pagar dos taxis para qué nos llevará porque mi abuela es una persona de tercera edad con más de 91 años y mi mamá también es una persona mayor con afecciones de salud, quería llevarlas de viaje en las mejores condiciones.
So with the help of my dad and my brother we paid the trip to two cab drivers friends, my mom was very happy to take my grandmother to llano and I had that moral commitment so that both could return to their land, I also wanted to go, but taking my family, since most of my trips I do them alone and traveling as a family leaves beautiful memories.
Así que con la ayuda de mi papá y mi hermano pagamos el viaje a dos taxistas amigos, mi mamá estaba muy feliz por llevar a mi abuela a llano y yo tenía ese compromiso moral para que ambas pudieran volver a su tierra, yo también quería ir, pero llevando a mi familia, ya que la mayoría de mis viajes los hago sola y viajar en familia deja bonitos recuerdos.
As it was a long trip, it required several stops, about two at least and the one that cannot be missed is the stop at the Calabozo dam, where we went out to stretch our legs, breathe some fresh air and look at nature and man-made works. The plains are large extensions of dry and hot land, that is why the dam serves as a place for recreation and relaxation, although it is not a must.
Como era un viaje largo, requería de varias paradas, unas dos como mínimo y la que no puede faltar es la parada de la represa de Calabozo, donde salimos a estirar las piernas, respirar algo de aire fresco y mirar la naturaleza y las obras hechas por el hombre. Los llanos son grandes extensiones de tierra seca y calurosa, por eso la represa sirve como un lugar de esparcimiento y recreación, aunque no es el deber ser.
People go there to fish and also to swim as if it were a beach, my family just to admire the area and take some pictures, in my teens on a trip with some friends if I get to swim here, but that's another story. In the dam there is a strong breeze and it is difficult to take good pictures, but we are so photogenic that we come out very handsome, I would say too handsome hahahaha.
Allí las personas van a pescar y también a bañarse como si se tratara de una playa, mi familia solo se para admirar el área y sacarse algunas fotos, en mi adolescencia en un viaje con unos amigos si llegue a bañarme aquí, pero esa es otra historia. En la represa hace una brisa fuerte y es difícil salir bien en las fotos, pero nosotros somos tan fotogénicos qué salimos muy lindos, yo diría que demasiados apuestos hahahaha.
As you can see in the pictures, there are dark marks at the bases which is where the water arrives most of the time, but in summer, which is the time when people usually go to the plains, the dam dries up and the water level goes down. You can also see people fishing and bathing.
Como pueden verla en las fotos, existen marcas oscuras en las bases qué es donde llega el agua la mayoría del tiempo, pero en verano, qué es la época donde se acostumbra ir al llano, se seca la represa y baja el nivel del agua. También se puede ver personas pescando y bañándose.
The dam is composed of a long bridge where you can see for several minutes on one side of the road all the water as if it were a natural beach. It has a beautiful view and a few years ago they restored the entrance or gate of the bridge, now it has very nice colors. This dam has an important function in the state that is the main producer in the planting and cultivation of rice, the dam serves to irrigate large areas of land and was built between 1954 and 1956.
When we arrived at the Calabozo dam, we began to feel many emotions, because it was not long before the end of the trip and we received messages and calls from the family that was waiting for us.

La represa está compuesta por un puente de larga extensión y donde uno puede ver por varios minutos a un lado de la carretera toda el agua como si se tratara de una playa natural. Tiene una vista hermosa y hace pocos años restauraron la entrada o puerta del puente, actualmente tiene unos colores muy bonitos. Esta represa tiene una función importante en el estado que es el principal productor en la siembra y cultivo de arroz, la represa sirve de riego de grandes extensiones de terrero y fue construida entre los años 1954 hasta 1956. Cuando llegamos a la represa de Calabozo comenzamos a sentir muchas emociones, porque falta poco para terminar el viaje y se reciben mensajes y llamadas de la familia que nos espera. ¿Conoces la represa de Calabozo? ¿Has pasado por allí alguna vez?
