Splinterlands Fan Art - Dark Vulguine

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another Splinterlands fan art post. For this fan art, I have drawn Vulguin, a Rare Monster from the Chaos Legion Rewards card set. This is an Art entry of the weekly contest in Splinterlands. If you would like to participate, here is the link - Splinterlands Art Contest Week 305! in Splinterlands. And here is the card reference image of Vulguine.

Vulguine, in my perspective, is like a fox spirit spirit that is always hungry. You can see it by the blood coming out from its mouth. For this fan art, I just wanted it to be just a fox spirit. And to add some personal touch, I changed the its color from gray to black.

Here are the materials that I used to create this fan art.

  • Android Tablet
  • Sketchbook for Mobile

Here are the detailed step-by-step procedures for creating this fan art:

  • Start with Line Art:
Begin by sketching the basic outline of your monster. Use clean, smooth lines to define the shape and features.

  • Apply Black Flat Colors:
Fill in the entire drawing with flat black colors. This will serve as the base for your artwork and give it a strong, dark foundation.

  • Use Reddish Color for Line Art:
Replace the standard black line art with a reddish hue. This color choice represents the bloodthirsty nature of the monster, adding a sense of menace and intensity to the artwork.

  • Add Face Details and Fire Symbols:
Create a new layer and add detailed features to the monster’s face. Ensure these elements are sharp and expressive.
On a separate layer, draw fire symbols. Keeping these elements on a different layer makes future adjustments easier.

  • Add Gray Shadows on Fur:
Use gray to add shadows to the monster’s fur. This will give the fur a sense of depth and texture.

  • Apply Red Shadows:
Add shadows to other parts of the drawing using a red color. This helps maintain the overall theme and enhances the menacing appearance.

  • Add White Patterns on Fur:
Introduce white patterns on the monster’s fur to create contrast and highlight certain areas. This makes the fur look more intricate and detailed.

  • Add Glowing White on Gray Areas:
Apply a glowing white color to the gray shadowed areas. This gives a luminous effect, adding a supernatural or eerie quality to the monster.

  • Create Background Elements:
For the background, add a shadow on the ground beneath the monster. This anchors the character to the scene and gives a sense of weight.

  • Add snow patterns to the background to set the scene and provide a stark contrast to the dark, menacing figure of the monster.
