As I said in an earlier post, the Hive Bootcamp was developed to instruct and train individuals before they use Hive, to help them learn how to navigate Hive and what to do and what not to do. Aside from that, it is intended to weed out users who might come across as not being serious about the process and to prevent the creation of accounts for them if we detect any signs of this when they participate in the test questions that are prepared for them to answer following each session.
A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF HOW THE BOOTCAMP WORKS
It took a lot of effort to develop the lessons and test questions for the incoming rookies for this Bootcamp, which is why it needs to be stringent so that only deserving people can receive a Hive account. This is to ensure that we do not onboard people who would ultimately commit plagiarism or damage Hive's reputation, which is especially crucial for Hive Bootcamp's legitimacy.
We started the Bootcamp in August with 9 new participants in the second week of the month, and we created 6 tutorials and quizzes for them to complete. Each instruction includes resources and live meetings for clarification, and each test follows following each session.
The requirement was that each newcomer had 24 hours to complete the test and see the live sessions' summary. If they don't complete a test by the second test's date, we'll kick the newcomer out because they've showed no interest in the program by refusing to take the test that was assigned to them.
OUTCOME OF AUGUST COHORT IN THE BOOTCAMP
As was previously stated, the BootCamp initially accepted 9 participants, but we were able to reduce that number to 5 participants by deleting those who were unable to meet the requirements. These 5 demonstrated their seriousness by participating in all meetings and the initial four examinations. Although I was quite delighted that we were able to identify potential Hive members, the conclusion was not what I had anticipated.
COHORT 1 STATUS: Disappointing, yet successful
Today was supposed to be the last day for these final five people, but since they didn't complete tests 5 and 6 by the deadline, we had to kick them all out of the Bootcamp and remind them that if they were serious about taking Hive seriously, they would have completed both tests within the allotted 48 hours. As a result, we are not providing anyone with a Hive account for this cohort 1.
The fact that they are finishing off their training does not justify extending the deadline. The goal of the BootCamp was to identify individuals who would take Hive seriously, which is why the test questions and submission deadlines were put in place. And from what I can tell, the Bootcamp has achieved its goals.
Despite this setback, the fact that the solution we devised is working successfully counts as a success. This demonstrates that newcomers who successfully complete this Bootcamp will perform well on Hive if they adhere to all of the lessons and directives given to them.
WHAT COMES NEXT BEFORE SEPTEMBER COHORT
The August cohort was a success, and it gave us the knowledge we needed to operate the program more efficiently and with less strain on the tutors. From this week on, we'd devote all of our attention to promoting Hive on Web2 social media, encouraging friends to enroll in the Bootcamp, and reaching out to some Hive pals who might have someone they'd like to invite to Hive and genuinely want them to be ready for life there.
Hopefully, we'll be able to enroll more individuals in the Bootcamp, educate them, and progressively weed out those who won't take Hive seriously before compiling a list of those who succeeded on the @hive-bootcamp. I'll see you all later, then.
