Digital wellbeing, also known as digital wellness, is a term that describes the impact of digital services and technologies on people's mental, physical, social, and emotional health. It's about developing and maintaining a healthy relationship with technology, and using it to help people achieve their goals instead of distracting them. Some devices, like Android and Samsung phones, have digital wellbeing features that can help users track their device usage and set boundaries. These features can include: Daily app timers, Bedtime mode, Focus mode, and Disturbance free time periods.
Some say that digital wellbeing can help people be more productive and engaged, and lead healthier lives. For example, employees who check their phones less frequently may be more productive and less exhausted. However, others say that overuse of technology can have negative effects, such as increasing anxiety and stress levels.
Some ways to improve digital wellbeing include:
- Being aware of how much time you spend using technology and how it affects your emotions
- Being mindful of social media and social comparison
- Staying safe with technology
- Taking breaks from notifications.
Controlling the Devices
(own screen grab from mobile)
My secret of controlling the devices is to avoid Being active of social.media platform. It sounds strange, but honestly, I am not active on #instagrsm #facebook or #tiktok. I am more regular on #Hive and no other platform give me space for more productivity. So lessor the means of entertainment the better the digital heslth. The other practices thatbi usually follow in my daily life is to keep away the phones during morning and evening time apart from staying away during the bed time. While many people likes to watch #shorts #reels or like to play music on mobile during morning, I prefer to stay close to nature and spend some idle time with own. During weeke ds, I usually pick up the phone for some urgent calls else it remain at a corner. The other best usage of my mobile device is to access #Hive "dapps" on the go. Some of the otyer common ways to implement digital wellbeing include:
Assess how much time you spend on screen, using social media, and relying on digital devices
Establish clear limits for when and how you use digital technology
Set aside time for non-digital activities like exercise, hobbies, reading, or socializing in person
Take advantage of built-in features and third-party apps that can monitor and manage your screen time, bedtime schedules, and notifications
Be aware of your technology use and emotions, and be mindful of social media and social comparison
Find ways to pause and minimize distractions so technology doesn't take away from what matters to you.
Talk with your family about creating healthy digital habits together
This is how one can put a check on their digital well being. It might appears pretty tough in begining but as we remain focus and keep ourself engaged on other activity, It get too easy in life. Technology has been playing a bigger role in our life. It is affecting us in mental, physical, social, and emotional health. Better to keep a check and lead a happy meaningful life.
