The News

It is less than three weeks to @hivefest. Let me know if you are going. I really hope that numbers are up this year, but then I know a lot of Europeans would want to go. Do not worry if you think you will not know anyone as Hivers are a friendly bunch and you will be chatting over a beer in no time.

Prices from @coingecko

The cryptocurrency market recovered a bit this week. $HIVE could be back over 20c soon after a rough few weeks. I always say you have to play the long game and it is worth it to keep earning even when the price is low. As for the 'legacy coin', I have no idea why it retains any value.

Friday Follows

I keep telling people that Hive has a great variety of content. You should follow people who create what interests you and engage with it. Everyone loves to get feedback and Hive will not function if everyone just wants to create rather than consume. You should definitely be commenting far more than you post. Even if your vote is not worth much your opinion has value. It may also gain you some followers, so be natural and honest rather than just going for numbers.

I share people who I have found appealing to me, but you will have different interests. These are just suggestions, so be free to come up with your own.

  • @sidekickmatt produces several different comics plus lots of original art.
  • @hivetoday provide updates on what is going on around this blockchain.
  • @madilyn02 has been interviewing some members of our community. That is a great way to get to know them.
  • @run.vince.run and his wife @run.kirsty.run have been travelling to some triathlon events. Vince also runs the @strava2hive service that can convert your Strava activities into Hive posts.

The Dog House

In this segment I have written about various behaviours that I see as damaging to Hive. What do you see that annoys you?

The End

We have a long weekend in the UK and the weather is looking good, although some areas had high winds today. On Sunday my band @theriverkicks are playing at Goatfest where I will be playing the drums. Several of the band members are on Hive.

I hope your weekend is good wherever you are. We all need to get away from our screens for a bit and just enjoy life. You can always blog about it later, but it is up to you to find an audience.

Thank you so much for the mention @steevc, you're also doing very well and I appreciate your work. Maybe I'll feature you in one of my interviews, if that's ok!

Hivefest seems like an interesting event, a gathering of like-minded and friendly people. I hope to attend one soon. Thanks for sharing the links, I will check them out. Have a great weekend.

Thanks again for the shoutout, @steevc. You are a great boon for the folks on Hive.

I just try to help out. I love what you do and think you should get more followers.

Excelente reflexión mi amigo ..la opinión también cuenta no es solo por el dinero, y hablando de opiniones me encantaria ir a un festival hive.

well good luck with the goatfest...showaddywaddy, LOL, bring on the zimmerframes....and their photograph is poetic licence taken to the extreme !!!!

what annoys me about hive? pointless unwarranted downvotes for no logical reason, it certainly is not very encouraging is it?

well good luck with the goatfest

Cheers. I hope the weather is better tomorrow anyway.

Downvotes can be used just to adjust rewards and some choose to do that. It may not be personal, but when it goes that way then it can be toxic. We don't have to suck up to anyone, but we should think about the 'greater good'.

yes, I am told it is not personal, but politics still pisses me off LOL

I can see on your posts that got DVs that you still made far more than most people anyway. They could have taken a lot more off if they wanted to. It redistributes the rewards a little. Not really politics, just economics. A certain troll is earning curation on your posts, so it cuts what they get.

Part of the reason I want Hive to grow is that it will diminish the power of the whales as they will hold a smaller share of the HP and votes will be more spread out. We may end up earning less $HIVE, but then the price may go up. We are the early adopters and are doing much better than the latecomers will.

My guru mentioned the troll aspect, when I spit my dummy out, and was going to kick hive in the balls and go elsewhere.

have now seen its not personal..just annoying.

Dang, it's hard to believe it is that close!

Hi Steve! Hope you're doing well! I am just back from holiday in Italy and it's raining in London (of course!)

What annoys me about hive:

  • People doing it for the rewards. You've said this many times but basically I think it's best if people completely disregard the reward element and just interact with what interests them.
  • Proof of stake in general. A bit controversial/fundamental I know! but I'm not sold. Aren't we just building another version of wealth = power? (not that I have better ideas to be honest!)

Keep doing what you do!

Those are a couple of things that define what Hive is, so I doubt they will change. Without rewards we would have hardly any users. I think it is making a real difference for some people who struggle to get by. I've mostly built my stake by just being active and now I can distribute more rewards.

You can always decline rewards. I think we need alternatives to the corporate platforms that are getting worse.

Cheers! !BEER
