The News
I am sure you have noticed that the $HIVE price has been trending upwards this week. It has been bouncing around 29c and it would be good to see it go higher. This is getting on for twice the price at the start of the month, so people should be feeling better off. For some reason the 'legacy crapcoin' has gone up too, but that cannot be down to any actual value. At least the gap is widening a little.
There have been some developments on some projects this week. @leofinance have worked with @dashpay so that people with other crypto wallets can get a Hive account easily. I think this just gets them into InLeo, but it could give them a taste and so they could investigate more. If they already have crypto experience then it should not be a big step. @gadrian has been trying this out.
@keychain have a new version that does multi-sig and two-factor. These features could be essential for big accounts that want to increase security.
@peakd are providing access to AI image generation tools for small payments of HBD. Some such services require a subscription, so this could be attractive. This is interesting technology, but I believe that such images should be labelled as being generated and not passed off as original art. It is up to people to decide what rewards they deserve.
Friday Follows
- I saw music and video producer @alex-rourke talking about @v4v.app to pay for things. Although I have met the creator @brianoflondon a couple of times I have not got into this. I have not seen many places where I could pay with Bitcoin/Lightning, but I will bear it in min. Alex did a video demonstration of how easy it is.
- I have mentioned cartoonist @sidekickmatt plenty of times. He posted about getting developers to work on a Hive dapp for comics. Professional artists want to get paid and I am sure they would rather do it without annoying people with ads. On Hive you can give rewards with votes and do micropayments. Get the rewards to people who create quality content and they will spread the word.
- I have known @bozz for a long time here. He is another person who does regular Friday posts, but his are more on the finance side.
People mentioned get a share of the post rewards and I use @commentrewarder to that your comments can have more value.
The Dog House
This week brought yet another "I quit!" post from someone who has been around for a few years. I had seen that he did videos via @cast.garden, but had not looked at this. Part of his reasoning is that someone could give you a nice big vote and someone else could cancel it out. Well that is a fundamental part of how Hive was designed to work and is important in dealing with abuse. The issue is more around people disputing what has value or just having personal differences. That is just human nature. It does not stop your content from appearing on Hive and it may be possible to earn in other ways.
Hive is imperfect, but it provides opportunities. I do hate to see people who feel they are being driven away and that is not a fault with the general community or even with the whales. I believe that most of the whales really want Hive to succeed and they want a diverse selection of content. There can be issues around how the rewards get distributed and spent, but we have votes that can affect who decides these things. If you want to have influence you do have to build a stake and that takes commitment.
Each of us can use our stake as we see fit, but beware of clashing egos.
The End
We are almost at the final HPUD of 2024. Have you powered up every month? It only needs to be 10 $HIVE to get the badge. Increasing your stake will help your account grow from curation rewards.
I do the #BritList on the first Saturday of each month, so we have another week to add people to that. If you know someone who needs an account then I can create them for free as I can claim account creation tokens. DM me for that.
BTW Good to see the 'Snippets' option back in the Peakd post editor. It was only on comments for a while.
Hive five!
