We have had various music contents on this platform. I did over 100 entries for the original Open Mic. Now we have a new one with big prizes. @lordbutterfly is behind this as well as his efforts in making a Hive documentary and working with the Hive rally car.
I have been making music for many years, but came late to writing my own songs. I did eventually make my first album. I play guitar, ukulele and drums. I perform with some bands such as @swing47 and @theriverkicks.
I was looking for a song to record for the contest and found this one that I started working on last year, but I had not recorded it. So this is the world debut!
For the contest you have to upload your video to Twitter to get more exposure. We want musicians who are not already on Hive to join up and take part.
My ukulele got signed by lots of people at the conference in Krakow. We were still on the legacy chain there, but a lot of them are still active on Hive.
Here are the song lyrics:
The Beer Song
There are songs about women, There are songs about cars
What they both have in common, Is I've heard them in bars
One thing brings us together, And always brings cheer
That one thing I am sure you can guess is called beer
I've had beer in America, beer in Japan,
Beer from a bottle and beer from a can
Beer is a great thing, on that we agree
The only trouble with beer, is that beer makes me pee
Now some people drink to forget all their troubles
Others may just just get a kick from the bubbles
You can drink all alone, but then that can be sad
Whilst a drink with your mates is the best time you've had
I've drunk beer on a mountain, I've drunk beer out at sea
I've had beer that's expensive and very rarely free
There are so many beers in this world to explore
Just don't drink so much you end up on the floor
If this song has a moral, it's that drinking's okay
A long as you're in control at the end of the day
We don't live forever when all's said and done
So we have to ensure that our time here is fun.
