Prepositions of time
There are three prepositions of time in English grammar:
1-at
2-on
3-in
Descriptions
We use AT to indicate the time of day
We use ON for days and dates
We use IN for longer periods (for example months, years, seasons)

Example of how to use AT
Let's take the following sentence as an example and hide the preposition.
The concert begins ________ 8 p.m.
In this case we might be undecided whether to use ON or AT. The rule is that AT is used when we are indicating a time of day, so here we must use the preposition AT.
Below is the correctly reported sentence with the preposition highlighted.
The concert begins at 8 p.m.
Example of how to use ON
Let's take the following sentence as an example and hide the preposition, as we did before.
The concert begins ________ 8 p.m.
Are you free _________ Saturdays?
In this case we might have doubts about whether to use ON or AT. However, in this case we are using the preposition for a day and the rule is that ON is used for days and dates. So below is the correct sentence with the preposition in bold.
Are you free on Saturdays?
Example of how to use IN
Let's take the following sentence as an example and hide the preposition.
I love reading ________ the evenings.
In this case we might have doubts about whether to use IN or AT. However, the rule is that for periods the preposition IN is used. So we will have to complete the sentence with IN. Below I propose the complete sentence where I put the correct preposition in bold.
I love reading in the evenings.
NOTE: Let's be careful because we don't use at/on/in before last/next/this/every. For example, we write next January or every Monday. The preposition is not used.
NOTE2:
IN is also used to say how long it takes to do something. Below I propose an example sentence where I put the preposition in bold.
I learnt to drive in two months.

Le preposizioni di tempo nella grammatica inglese sono tre:

Prendiamo come esempio la seguente frase e nascondiamo la preposizione.

In questo caso potremmo essere indecisi se usare ON oppure AT. La regola è che AT si usa quando stiamo indicando un momento della giornata, quindi qui dobbiamo usare la preposizione AT.

Esempio di come si usa ON
Prendiamo come esempio la seguente frase e nascondiamo, come abbiamo fatto prima, la preposizione.

In questo caso potremmo avere dei dubbi se usare ON oppure AT. Però in questo caso stiamo usando la preposizione per un giorno e la regola è che si usa ON per i giorni e le date. Quindi ecco qui di seguito la frase corretta con la preposizione in grassetto.

Esempio di come si usa IN
Prendiamo come esempio la seguente frase e nascondiamo la preposizione.
I love reading ________ the evenings.
In questo caso potremmo avere dei dubbi se usare IN oppure AT. La regola però è quella che per i periodi si usa la preposizione IN. Quindi dovremo completare la frase con IN. Qui di seguito ripropongo la frase completa dove metto in grassetto la preposizione giusta.
I love reading in the evenings.
NOTA: Facciamo attenzione perchè non si usano at/on/in prima di last/next/this/every. Ad esempio si scrive next January oppure every Monday. La preposizione non viene usata.
NOTA2:
IN viene usato anche per dire quanto tempo ci vuole per fare qualcosa. Propongo qui di seguito una frase come esempio dove metto in grassetto la preposizione.
I learnt to drive in two months.
