‘Tis the season! 🎄
It's that time of the year once again and also my favorite time of the year. I have always loved the Christmas season since I was a child and I am glad that as an adult I still experience that childlike happiness whenever Christmas comes around. I had thought that I'd be lost as soon as I started experiencing life in a different way.
But that is not the case and I am forever grateful because I always wonder what Christmas would be like if I never had the urge to look forward to it and plan for it with enthusiasm.
Bleak? Maybe.
I will never know.
Last year, I had a very calm Christmas. I was very busy with school and didn't get enough time to prepare for Christmas because of academic activities and exams. The semester ended two days before Christmas and all I wanted to do was to rest and get my strength back, which is what I did.
I was indoors throughout, resting because the thought of going out stressed me out, I wasn't interested in partaking in fun activities.
This time though, things are a little bit different.
- MY PLANS FOR CHRISTMAS:
First and foremost, the most important thing in my Christmas plan has always been to have a Christmas experience worth remembering. Whether I go out or not, I always make sure that whenever I get flashbacks of the holiday, I remember it fondly.
That being said, the first item in my Christmas plan this year is to of course have a memorable Christmas experience. And this can only be achieved by the following thought out activities:
- QUALITY TIME WITH FAMILY:
I do admit that I haven't been spending enough time with members of my family. It has been a rough year for everyone concerned and I kinda withdrew a lot from activities that I would normally participate in but that's in the past now. Since the beginning of this month, I have made sure to visit my siblings and spend quality time with them and this will continue until the holidays are over and everyone returns to their normal routine.
- OUTINGS AND LITTLE TRIPS:
I promised myself that I wouldn't lock myself inside this Christmas. I did that last year in order to recuperate and because there was simply no time to start planning for different activities. This time around, I have had enough time to rest and I definitely have plans for the coming weeks.
There are a lot of blockbuster movies set to be released in the coming weeks and being a movie lover, I definitely would like to go out to see a movie. My brother has already agreed to go see a movie with me though we haven't picked a date yet until the movie that we want to see gets released.
One of my close friends would love for us to go visit some popular art galleries and museums in the city and I absolutely love the idea and what better time to go than now! We have already picked the galleries that caught our attention and the museum that we would love to go to.
It would be a way for us to catch up and fill each other in on the happenings in our lives throughout the year and basically just have a wonderful girl's time out.
- DELICIOUS FOOD:
Another reason I love Christmas is because it is an opportunity to eat really tasty meals. From visits to surprise gifts, there's always an extra plate of tasty food to be devoured and I am always willing to devour the meals alongside the cold drinks.
Truly, the most important part of Christmas is the food. Christmas cannot be celebrated properly without food, delicious food to keep the stomach satisfied and the mind happy. So, I definitely will have a lot of fun eating different meals this season.
- SELF-CARE:
Last but not least is self care.
Though I plan to be all out this year, having fun, helping out and being with other people, I also want to take out some time for myself.
This will also be a period for me to get myself back through meditation and prayers. This is where I pay attention to how far I have gone since the beginning of the year and how much I have achieved and places of improvement.
The Christmas season signals the end of a year and the start of a new one which is why I always find time to meditate and do some self care to brace myself for the coming year. It helps to relax my mind and it helps to fill my mind with positive thoughts so I do not feel so spent after all the festivities.
