Verical

The view from Rattlesnake Point on Mount Moosalamoo in the Green Mountains near Salisbury, Vermont.

Oak treee on left

The large lake on the right is Lake Dunmore. I love taking this hike because the view point is about 1400 ft above the lake. I walk around the lake everyday and Rattlesnake Point can be seen from the lake as a rock outcropping way up on the side of the mountain. Its cool you can hike up there 🙂

Distant Mountains

You get some views of the Green Mountains on the way up but mostly you are hiking through the forest.

Sky

The sky was gorgeous yesterday for the hike. A little warm and buggy but the warm weather won't last much longer in Vermont so I shouldn't complain.

Lake Dunmore

There are several places to take in the view once you reach the end of the trail. But the evening sun was starting to glare on the north end of the lake.

Island

There is a small island on Lake Dunmore that we kayak around a few times a year.

More sky

Even though the point of getting up high is to look down, I still ended up taking lots of shots of the sky.

Both

Lake Dunmore dominates the view but you can also see Fern Lake and Silver Lake.

Glare

Views like this always demand a pano but the glare to the north was ruining wider shots.

Pano

But I still took a couple 😊

Rattlesnake Point? Are there rattlesnakes in VT. They say we have some in WI but they are rare.
Gorgeous view from up there!
It's hot as blazes here today. 95°

No rattlesnakes anymore. They killed them all 😦 Vermont had a bounty on rattlesnakes all the way into the 1970s. They are effectively gone. Rumors of them crop up sometimes but thats about it. 95 is too hot for Fall (almost Fall)

Stunning views 😊
Just beautiful, could sit and watch the world go by there.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. We had a quick snack and headed down before it got dark. Its getting dark in the woods very early now.

I can imagine it getting dark early now. It is changing quickly here too.
Have a lovely Sunday 👋🏻😊

Wow that is an epic view. Looks like it was a hot hike up there... See any rattle snakes?

Thanks. Most if not all rattlesnakes are gone. Vermont paid bounty for rattlesnakes until the 1970s. My son is in the herping community and there are rumors of some active dens in southern Vermont but we've hiked some of those areas with no sitings. And of course the herping community is notorious secretive about things like this so we were in the general area in the right type of habitat but who knows?

Have to import some from Arizona, though I think they would not like the winter there.

Stunning views with hints of autumn foliage colors starting to appear. It would be wonderful it you could return when fall is at its peak and take photographs at the same places! 🍂🍁🧡

What a sight!! Going through the forest is totally worth it to witness it; and judging by the photos, the forest itself is gorgeous too!

Thanks. Its a fun hike with a nice payoff 🙂 about 2.5 hours at our pace

2,5h is already a pretty decent hike!
