A few days ago in my class WhatsApp group chat, some class mates of mine sent some throw back pictures of our early years in school which were really filled with fun memories. Some of them being things you couldn't believed happened to you but you were able to cope all along. I remember one of my classmate sending a picture of a rat that gave birth inside her cupboard, the tiny pinkish children all screaming unceasingly, she couldn't summon the courage to kill them so she just took them to the back of the building and dropped them somewhere safe hoping that their mother would find them there.
Talking about rats, I don't know what kind of creatures they are seriously. Sometimes I ask myself the reason why God created some animals like rats and mosquitoes.
Rats especially, they disgust me so much. Especially the smelly ones.
Sometime ago a rat ran into my room from a neighbours room, I know the previous night my neighbour was complaining of the rat inside his room and was planning to buy a rat trap since the rat has refused to eat all the poisons he has been giving to it, but eats every other thing inside the room, ranging from food stuffs to books, bags and his stockings inside his shoes.
So that faithful night he was struggling with the rat chase when unfortunately I opened my door to know why the noise of hitting I'm hearing from his room. Unluckily for me the rat ran into my room, and surprisingly like lightening, it disappeared into where I didn't know. All search through the night did not reveal any clue to where the rat was, but I could smell it, the boom coming so bad and I hated the smell so much.
I chased this rat for more three days but it was all futile, so one night I made sure all the lights were of, I was on the table with my laptop, then suddenly I saw the rat coming out from ontop of the wardrobe, immediately it saw me, it ran back hehehe, then I knew the probable location of my enemy.
So in the morning I search the wardrobe and to my greatest surprise I saw that this rat has made holes and pathways connecting one part of the wardrobe to another and has made an opening close to the window through which it can escape. I also saw pieces of things the it ate inside the wardrobe, things I know I don't have inside my the room hmmm hehe, so this particular rat goes outside to other places and bring back food to eat inside the wardrobe. I immediately closed all the holes through which it can escape and waited patiently for the night to come so we would continue our chase, that night I couldn't sleep. It was almost the same situation, me using my laptop on the table and the rat shows up again, this time I was watching a movie with my earpiece plug into my ear, so when I noticed the rat I removed the earpiece from my ear left it ontop of the laptop keyboard and gently closed the laptop but because of the earpiece on the keyboard, it didn't close properly. And again the rat chase began.
So on discovering that I have closed all the possible escape routes, the rat was jumping and running around the room, and it jumped to the table and ran on the top of my laptop, in an attempt to hit the rat, I mistakenly hit the laptop gentle, maybe because of the earpiece in-between the keyboard and the screen, the screen cracked and when I later put it on, I was seeing bluish discoloration and something that looked like ink displaying all over the screen. I can't describe the feeling I had that night, both chest pain, stomach pain, anger and regrets where all present at the same time hehe. I couldn't sleep throughout the night. I thought how would I explain that I condemned my laptop screen chasing a small rat hehe.
The experience increased my hatred for rats. Worst is that I didn't even kill the rat that day, not until after two more days of chasing it around the whole place.
Right now I'm planing to either fix the screen or buy a new laptop. all my neighbour could say was sorry amidst bouts of laughter as I explained the situation to him. Well it was not a funny experience but I still get angry and laugh at the whole thing whenever I remember it hahaha.
Pls when chasing a rat, always keep your gadgets where they won't be damaged.
