The Splinterlands cards use case that maybe you didn't know
They are not a constant presence on Hive Blockchain. I don't post articles often, I struggle to find the time to write them and trying to write them well isn't easy.
Even on @splinterlands I'm not a constant presence. I can't find the time or way to play competitively, but I still consider it the most beautiful, interesting and well-developed game on Hive. The development team has always worked well, listening to the community and also paying attention to the aspects that are often most overlooked by those who develop on Hive.
I have always maintained that the success of a project on Hive is linked to its usability on mobile and Splinterland has made considerable progress, integrating well with the Keychain App on iOS.
One of the other projects that I immediately loved on Hive is @actifit. The Move2earn app is often mistreated and considered a form of spam by some communities, but I believe it is a valuable resource for ensuring solid motivation for its users to stay active and play sports. I use it almost daily and I try to be consistent in publishing my reports.
The more you move, the more you earn. What better way to be motivated to do exercise and sport than by earning something? So why not look for all possible ways to optimize earnings?
A new use case for Splinterlands cards
Like I said, I'm not a Splinterlands player. I don't have many cards, and they aren't strong. Precisely I currently have 103 for a value of around $5. For a long time my cards sat there purposelessly gathering dust, however I recently discovered a new function for them.
Starting 03/04/2024, holding Splinterlands cards provides a bonus to Actifit rewards. In fact, by holding specific combinations of cards you can earn 50 more AFIT tokens for each Actifit report published.
Yes, but what cards are needed? Let's look at the levels together:
- 10 community cards provide 5 extra AFIT per report;
- 10 rare cards provide 10 extra AFIT per report;
- 10 epic cards provide 15 extra AFIT per report;
- 10 legendary cards provide 20 extra AFIT per report;
These levels are cumulative, so you can earn up to 50 extra AFITs for each report.
My situation
Since I discovered this use case, I have implemented a process of optimizing my card collection. First I put all the common and rare card duplicates up for sale. Most are worth little and I've started to get some DECs back. Not actively playing I have no interest in owning multiple copies. I also needed funds to purchase the epic and legendary cards. Having obtained the DECs from the sale, I went and purchased the cheapest epic cards, until I obtained ten. I have now met the requirements for the first three levels and get 30 extra AFITs for each report.
I'm currently waiting to be able to purchase all 10 legendary cards for the final tier. I will obtain the DECs to purchase them by delegating my staked SPS on a weekly basis and hoping that someone will purchase the common and epic cards that I still have for sale. As always I will try to buy the cheapest ones.
Let's do the math
Just for mathematical passion, let's try to do some math:
The AFIT token is currently worth 0.0003981 SWAP.HIVE. This means that 50 AFITs are worth 0.019905 SWAP.HIVE for each Actifit report published.
- 10 Venari Heatsmith (municipality) 122.20 DEC
- 10 Gargoya Devil (rare) 232.20 DEC
- 10 Lava Launcher (epic) 1,087.60 DEC
- 10 Djinn BilJka (legendary) 5,438.10 DEC
Purchasing them all therefore costs 6,880.10 DEC. At the moment the DEC token is worth 0.00266438 SWAP.HIVE, so purchasing all the cards costs us 18.33120084 SWAP.HIVE
If we were constant Actifit users, who take at least 5000 steps every day and publish a report, in a year we will obtain from this investment approximately 7.265325 SWAP.HIVE which is equivalent to an APR of: 7.265325 / 18.33120084 = 39.63%
Definitely not a bad investment.
How active do I have to be to get a 20% APR?
In the previous paragraph we calculated our maximum return for this investment. But to achieve it requires that we be constant in doing activities and this means:
- always take at least 5000 steps a day, every day;
- don't forget to post your Actifit report, not even for a day.
With all our good will there may be days when external factors do not allow us to post. Trivially, a day when we have a fever and don't leave the house.
So I asked myself: how many Actifit reports would be needed to obtain the 20% APR? A 20% APR for me is the yardstick of any project on Hive Blockchain. 20% is the APR on HBD savings. If a project offers a lower APR, why should I put my rewards there if the savings gives me more?
Here we calculate how many reports we need:
- 20% of 18.33120084 SWAP.HIVE is equal to 3.66624017 SWAP.HIVE
- To obtain the report number we simply need to divide the annual reward of 3.66624017 SWAP.HIVE by the daily reward of 0.019905 SWAP.HIVE, therefore 3.66624017 / 0.019905 = 184.18.
We just need to be active for almost half a year to get a 20% APR.
Conclusion
I wanted to share this reflection because I believe there are many Actifit users who have Splinterlands cards sitting around gathering dust. Maybe with a small trade you can reach all the requirements and have much higher APRs. I believe that maximizing earnings can be the best method to stay motivated to do activities and sports. I don't know about you, but I feel much more energetic, I think I'm going out for a walk now.
Un caso d'uso delle carte di Splinterlands che forse non conoscevate
Non sono una presenza costante su Hive Blockchain. Non posto spesso articoli, faccio fatica a trovare il tempo di scriverli e provare a scriverli bene non è facile.
Anche su @splinterlands non sono una presenza costante. Non riesco a trovare il tempo e il modo di giocare in maniera competitiva, ma tuttora lo reputo il gioco più bello, interessante e ben sviluppato su Hive. Il team di sviluppo ha sempre lavorato bene, ascoltando la community e stando attento anche agli aspetti spesso più trascurati da chi sviluppa su Hive.
Da sempre sostengo che il successo di un progetto su Hive sia legato alla fruibilità su mobile e Splinterland ha fatto notevoli passi avanti, integrandosi bene con la App Keychain su iOs.
Una degli altri progetti che ho da subito adorato su Hive è @actifit. L'app di Move2earn è spesso bistrattata e considerata una forma di spam da alcune community, ma credo invece sia una risorsa preziosa per garantire una solida motivazione per la sua utenza a mantenersi attivi e praticare sport. La usa quasi quotidianamente e cerco di essere costante nel pubblicare i miei report.
Più ti muovi e più guadagni. Quale modo migliore per essere motivati a fare movimento e sport se non guadagnando qualcosa? E quindi perchè non cercare tutti i modi possibili per ottimizzare i guadagni?
Un nuovo caso d'uso delle carte Splinterlands
Come ho detto, non sono un giocatore di Splinterlands. Non ho molte carte, e non sono forti. Precisamente ne ho al momento 103 per un valore intorno ai 5$. Per molto tempo le mie carte sono rimaste li senza uno scopo a prendere polvere, tuttavia ho scoperto di recente una nuova funzione per loro.
A partire dal 04/03/2024 detenere delle carte di Splinterlands fornisce un bonus alle ricompense di Actifit. Infatti, detenendo delle specifiche combinazioni di carte si può arrivare a guadagnare 50 token AFIT in più per ogni report Actifit pubblicato.
Si, ma quali carte servono? Vediamo insieme i livelli:
- 10 carte comuni forniscono 5 AFIT extra per report;
- 10 carte rare forniscono 10 AFIT extra per report;
- 10 carte epiche forniscono 15 AFIT extra per report;
- 10 carte leggendari forniscono 20 AFIT extra per report;
Questi livelli sono cumulabili, quindi si può arrivare a guadagnare fino a 50 AFIT extra per ogni report.
La mia situazione
Da quando ho scoperto questo caso d'uso, ho attuato un processo di ottimizzazione della mia collezione di carte. Per prima cosa ho messo in vendita tutti i doppioni di carte comuni e rare. La maggior parte vale poco e ho iniziato a recuperare qualche DEC. Non giocando attivamente non ho alcun interesse a detenere più copie. Inoltre mi servivano fondi per acquistare le carte epiche e leggendarie. Ottenuti i DEC dalla vendita sono andato ad acquistare le carte epiche più economiche, fino ad ottnerne dieci. Ora ho infatti soddisfatto i requisiti per i primi tre livelli e ottengo 30 AFIT extra per ogni report.
Sto attualmente aspettando di poter acquistare tutte e 10 le carte leggendarie per l'ultimo livello. I DEC per acquistarle li otterrò delegando settimanalmente i miei SPS in stake e sperando che qualcuno acquisti le carte comuni ed epiche che ho ancora in vendita. Come sempre cercherò di acquistare le più economiche.

Se noi fossimo degli utenti di Actifit costanti, che ogni giorno compiono almeno 5000 passi e pubblicano un report, in un anno otterremo da questo nvestimento circa 7,265325 SWAP.HIVE che equivale ad un APR di: 7,265325 / 18,33120084 = 39,63%
Decisamente non male come investimento.
Quanto devo essere attivo per avere un APR del 20%?
Nel paragrafo precedente abbiamo calcolato il nostro rendimento massimo per questo investimento. Ma per ottenerlo richiede che siamo costanti nel fare attività e questo significa:
- fare sempre almeno 5000 passi al giorno, ogni giorno;
- non dimenticarsi di postare il proprio report Actifit, nemmeno un gionro.
Con tutta la nostra buona volontà potrebbero esserci giorni in cui fattori esterni non ci permettano di postare. Banalmente, un giorno in cui abbiamo la febbre e non usciamo di casa.
Ecco che quindi mi sono domandato: quanti report di Actifit servirebbero per poter ottenere il 20% APR? Un APR del 20% per me è il metro di paragone di qualsiasi progetto su Hive Blockchain. Il 20% è l'APR sul savings di HBD. Se un progetto offre un APR inferiore, perchè dovrei mettere le mie ricompense li, se il savings mi da di più?
Ecco allora che calcoliamo quanti report ci servono:
- Il 20% di 18,33120084 SWAP.HIVE è uguale a 3,66624017 SWAP.HIVE
- Per ottenere il numero di report ci basta quindi dvidere la ricompensa annuale di 3,66624017 SWAP.HIVE per la ricompensa giornaliera di 0,019905 SWAP.HIVE, quindi 3,66624017 / 0,019905 = 184,18.
Ci basta essere attivi quasi la metà di un anno, per avere un 20% di APR.
Conclusione
Ho voluto condividere questa riflessione perchè credo ci siano molti utenti di Actifit che hanno carte Splinterlands ferme a prendere polvere. Magari con una piccola compravendita si riescono a raggiungere tutti i requisiti e avere APR molto superiori. Credo che massimizzare i guadagni possa essere il metodo migliore per rimanere motivati a fare attività e sport. Non so voi, ma io mi sento molto più carico, mi sa che ora esco a fare due passi.
