I always thought that just viewing the world as a positive place has the potential to make all the difference. Sometimes, it is not easy, but being and staying positive is always good. Life throws our way many disturbances that can make a difficult journey.
I make a choice every morning when I wake up. I can focus on what might go wrong or I can focus on the good things that could happen. It helps me in the morning to start my day light and clear-minded. It's much the same as putting on a pair of glasses that make everything brighter and more manageable.
One thing I have learned is that optimism breeds resilience. If you are expecting good things, more than likely, you will bounce back from setbacks. You will view challenges as temporary and believe in your power to overcome them. That mindset helps you keep going, pushing through when things get real.
Another thing from which I have drew knowledge is how optimism can be infectious. If in your life you carry out everything in a positive way, it will automatically reflect on other people around you. People are attracted by positive energy, therefore, you never know when the ripple effect might set in. Your optimism will rub off on others and they too, will start to be more optimistic.
Of course, there are days when it is difficult to be optimistic. That needs to be acknowledged. But I have realized that even on those days, some effort to find one small thing and be grateful for it makes a difference. It might be some kind word by a friend or some nice sunset. These little moments of thankfulness are capable of boosting spirits and reminding you that somewhere in the world, good still prevails.
To me, optimism does not lie in ignoring the bad things that happen in life. It's about choosing to focus on the good and to believe that better days lie ahead. It is faith in oneself and in the people that surround one. This outlook has pulled me through some tight spots but, more so, made me appreciate the good times even more.
It's in the trying of this that you might find exactly what can change your life for the best. It may be the key to living a much happier and fuller life.
