Few days ago I watched this movie on Netflix, it’s a subtitled India movie starring Alia Bhatt and other amazing characters, it an interesting one (highly recommended) and I love the entire storyline of the movie. We have seen movies with great storyline celebrating great personalities who are elite known for the impact they have made in their society with good professional background and celebrated for their achievement. But this one is different it a story about a sex worker turned Mafia Queen with a different.
Gangubai Kathiyawadi is all about a young girl named Ganga, she was aspiring to be a famous actress. She ran away from her reputable family with her boyfriend who deceived her because all she wanted was to see her dream comes true by all means as an actress and in the process she was sold into a brothel by the one she loved.
With her charisma and wisdom she gained full control of her community, her hardship in the brothel made her stronger and other prostitutes were able to get strength from her courageous lifestyle even as a prostitute. She stood up, fought for the women and their rights, empowered them to embrace themselves that they still play an important role in the community. She made them see that their profession can’t stop them from gaining respect as a woman. She was full of influence and she used her influence respectively for the aim to legalize prostitution as a profession and at the end she got victory for the women and made them see that not all heroes wear capes.

This movie significantly portrays that no matter ones occupation there is always a value in it and the way you place your value that is how you will be weighed. To me I believe we can all make an impact in our society in one way or the other, even with the most little action or words, it will all matter to someone who needs it.
