The right to expression and free speech is one human right every citizen of a country should have because its a right the citizens has to speak and express themselves anywhere and at anytime without having any fear 😨. This right also includes the right of opinions to issues, right to voice and explain oneself in any situation or case you find yourself.
These are rights that can never be taken away from a citizen of a country because its fundamental. And regardless of ones culture, position , religion, tribe and age, in my country Nigeria 🇳🇬 , every citizen is entitled to this right to # “Right To Free Speech “.
This means that every citizen of Nigeria 🇳🇬 is entitled to free speech and expression and should not have any fear of any kind while speaking or expressing themselves as fat as you are making your feelings, thoughts 💭 and reasoning known through speaking out.
Can Our Right Be Taking From Us?
Fundamental human rights which “Right To Free Speech “ 🎤 and expression of citizens is one major right among others which are writing rules and regulations that have been stated , one that can not just be turned up side down because the citizens of a country should have some rights especially that of right to free speech and expression so in my own opinion I don’t think our right o free speech and expression will be taking from us because we are the citizens of a country, the ones whose voice should be heard in all natters of concern.
If we the citizens of a country is stoped from speaking our mind and expressing ourselves, the step will hinder the citizens and will make many things go wrong since we are the ones that made up the country and must have some rights.
However, as citizens who have right to freedom of speech 🎤, we should also understand that every thing in life has limit. So we should know what to say and what not to say especially on matters that concerns # “Defamation Of Character”.
We should mind what we say especially when knowing what is right and wrong, staying off issues that will cause us trouble.
Having the right to freedom of speech should not cause us to speak overboard which definitely will cause us consequences because the government still can limit some rights if it’s abused by the citizens.
Are We Intimidated Or Afraid ?
The problem we have is dealing with people around us. I believe every government in leadership or power has those that are supporting them even when they are doing things that are bad, so in most cases some people who are around those in government tends to be slow in speaking out their mind so that they will find favor, one help or another while staying silent. Some citizens can also feel subdued and not stand up for themselves because they due not have the confidence in themselves, believing in what ever they see or hear.
However, many who feels they are not afraid and have the right to challenge the government are the ones who ends up in trouble most times because boldness brings consequences. So being able to express yourself without fear unfortunately leads to consequences as what you say or do can be used against you because you are no body in the seat 💺 of power.
In conclusion , and because most of us are afraid and can’t speak up because we don’t want to face consequences , we are then under infringement of our right due to fear . And this is not supposed to be because as citizens of a nation, our rights are our voice and power which should not be manipulated in any.
