Good evening, today I'm going to focus on the band The Cranberries from its beginnings to its end, so sit back and enjoy this post.
1989: Formation
The group was originally called The Cranberry Saw Us, and this name was given to them by brothers Noel and Mike Hogan. This group was created without thinking big since they performed in small and local venues, initially the vocalist of the band was Niall Quinn.
The style was more punk and alternative.
1990: Dolores O'Riordan's entry
- Niall Quinn leaves the band, and Dolores O'Riordan joins, which begins to give the group a different feel.
1991: Entry into the music market
- To get in, they decided to record two songs, "Linger" and "Dreams," but it wasn't easy for a record company to notice them, but Island Records listened to the songs and they signed the contract and released their first album.
1994: His first success
- They released their second album called "No Need to Argue" which contains songs like "Ode To My Family", "Twenty One" but the song "Zombie" directly became the most important song of the 90s, consolidating The Cranberries as a band with global reach.
1995-2018: Recognition
- They released "To the Faithful Departed" on April 30th, but it was already clear that the band had changed. This album contains the songs "Salvation" and "When You're Gone".
- After a short break, they created their 4th album called "Bury the Hatchet". On this album there are two great songs like "Promises" and "Animal Instinct"
- On January 15, 2018, Dolores O'Riordan died. The death was caused by alcohol poisoning caused by excessive amounts of alcohol.
Coroner Natalie Smart said:
"I saw O'Riordan submerged in the bath with her mouth and nose completely under water." It was also learned that there was an empty bottle of champagne and five empty mini bottles of liquor in the room, as well as prescription drugs with a number of tablets in each box.
In 2019 they released "In the End" in tribute to Dolores O'Riordan. An album that put an end to the group after 30 years. With hits like "Zombie", "Linger", "Dreams" and "Promises" they left a great legacy in the music industry.
