Childhood is full of deceit from our elders, while growing up there are lots of lies that we heard from our parents. As a male child, my parent used to tell me that sitting next to a female child can make her pregnant and this saying instill a lot of fear in me to the extent that when i want to graduate from primary school to secondary school, i picked only boys school in order to avoid sitting next to a female child so that I won't impregnate anyone at a very young age.
When I was young i didn't have any female friend due to what i have heard not knowing that it was a deceit, until i was taught sex education in JSS3 when we are preparing to write external examination, the teacher explained to us that until we are mature that is the only time we can impregnate someone and it is through sexual intercourse not mere sitting next to a female child. Since then, i didn't avoid sitting next to a female child, then i realized that my parents are trying to teach me how to relate with a female child in a polite manner.
Before I knew the truth, even in church i do avoid sitting next to a girl or a lady thinking that if I sit next to them, they will be pregnant and this really make me to laugh whenever i remember an incident that happened during those years in church, I'm the first person to sit on the long bench in church but to my greatest surprise the usher keep directing girls to where i sat, that day i turned myself to an usher as i stood up for the girls to sit down, it was a remarkable day because i stood up throughout the program, and when i got home my legs were aching so any time i remember that incident i will laugh so much.
I have heard a lot of lies when i was young but i only realize that they were all lies when i grow up, among them is this particular one that whenever it is raining and sun is shining at the same time the elders will say the tiger is giving birth to a young one, because I'm a science student i was able to know that it is climate change that causes rain and sun at the same time and nothing like tiger is giving birth. Thank God for science, it exposes a lot of lies by our elders in those days ranging from issues that has to do with weather changes, family problem and so on.
Another lie by our parents it's related to academics, there's a particular song that they used to sing then it goes thus:-
Bata re a dun koko ga
to ba kawe re
Bata re a dun serere nile
to o ba kawe re
The first two lines says your shoes will shine and sound very well if you study very well, and the last two lines says your shoes will be flat and make noise on the floor if you didn't study very well, now a days it is not everyone that study very well are doing well but the reason they said that is for us to be serious with our academics and not to be lazy.

Do you know I still believe that when it rains and the sun shines, tiger is giving birth? 😃😃
The instinct in me is still telling me it's the truth even when it's obvious it has been lies. Our parents were only trying to instill good morals in us, hence, those words they gave us and we got to know they were lies just to protect us.
