DAOs: They Are Going To Power Everything

in #hive-1679223 years ago

We do not realize how powerful a structure the DAO is. This is something that we are only starting to experiment with. Over the next couple years, we will see this emerge as a major piece of the radical change society encounters.

DAOs are a great deal more than just tokenization. There are many level to it which can enhance the experience of all who are involved. Here is where we see an entire business structure forming.

It appears few have considered the DAO when starting a business. The key is going to be linking up real world projects with this concept. Here is where we see the ability to cryptocurrency in full force. Not only does it provide a new business model but also enables cryptocurrency to be used to increase productivity.

We see one that is serving as an example.

VinesDAO

Here we have a project that is combining wine tasting with cryptocurrency. The two have passionate following so it makes sense to put them together.

The main idea is that the wine business is exclusionary. It takes big money to open a winery. This also ignores the expertise that is required. This project seeks to provide a solution.

Before going any further, here is where we mention this is not financial advice. The information here is used solely as an example of what is possible.

That said, we have few details other than a Litepaper. Nevertheless, we can see how some of this is forming.

Basically, there are three levels which people can buy in. This will provide them with certain benefits as laid out in the paper. Each carries with it some type of governance although the higher levels get multiplied voting rights. It appears this is essentially a stake-weighted voting model.

The DAO is going to buy some grapes. From this, the investment is in real-time wine making. The goal is to include wine enthusiasts in the process while giving anyone the opportunity to become a vineyard owner. This is not a virtual game either.

Reading through the paper spells out what the $GRAPE token offers in terms of access with each level receiving more tokens. Ultimately, we are seeing a new funding mechanism coupled with governance and inclusion.

If you ever wanted to own a winery, here might be your chance. Visit their website to follow their development.

Regulators Will Hate It

One of the interesting things about this project is it used the word "community". This is the focus of these DAOs. People get together around a particular theme, thus becoming a community. We see them all over the place. However, as of now, they are basically just existing.

The DAO concept enables them to take thing much further. Not only can a community become tokenized, it can become participants in a business. This is a radical new idea.

As with most, the regulators are going to want to put a stop to this. They, after all, cannot allow free reign by the population. Hence, agencies like the SEC are going to want to classify this as a security. According to their old laws, it essentially is.

However, cryptocurrency is a global unfolding. Not every country is going to take a negative stance on these. At the same time, many will be established on truly decentralized platforms which is out of the reach of the regulators. Here is why it is so vital to have decentralized infrastructure in place. If the foundation is solid, there is a better chance of what is built on top is untouchable.

Of course, like most things, at the moment, this is low on the list of the regulators. For the most part, they are not aware of what is taking place. We see the evolution of where their focus is. While the SEC is still fighting Ripple over being a security, the industry is in the process of rolling out an entirely new business model.

Just think of the progression:

  • ICOs
  • Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
  • Stablecoins
  • NFTs
  • DAOS

What is next?

Naturally, we cannot overlook the fact there is innovation taking place within each realm, altering the makeup of what is available.

Are DAOs The Future?

We can see how these can be used for inclusion. While VinesDAO is rather limited, offering 10,010 positions, there is room for a lot more people. Perhaps this wine making realm is a rather limited one. It is obviously not as popular as, say, the Dallas Cowboys. So having lower units available at a higher price might make sense.

There is nothing that says a project cannot offer out tens of millions of tokens, at a few cents apiece. When putting something like this together on Ethereum, that is not possible due to the transaction fees. However, if transactions cost next to nothing, then one with even a few dollars could invest in something like this. Buying up a couple tokens could be a good thing.

The areas this can drift into is incredible. Consider how many communities there are and that we form as people. To think of this, ponder what applies to you. We have a gender and sexuality. Some are parents or kids. We have likes (hobbies). There are schools we attended. Certain things we are fans of. We live in particular areas. Our lives are full of experiences. Perhaps we are recovering from something. We invest in different things.

Basically, we can keep going for days. The point is each of these could be considered a community. Hence, each could be tokenized and many could form a DAO if there was some particular business venture. This is taking community participation to an entirely new level.

It is also a massive step beyond the idea of putting together NFTs for a community of fans (as an example). This is offering them legitimate investing options.

Can you see how big this can become? Imagine the idea of millions of these popping up all over the place. We are essentially building millions of small businesses, which are the heart of any economy.

So we can reasonably conclude that DAOs have a place in the future. It is a design that will evolve and grow. One of the most powerful things about cryptocurrency is the amount of innovation that takes place. When community members are tapped into, they can offer up ideas. At the same time, new projects can take what went before while adding new components.

We are in a period of massive experimentation. This is something that the world is really lacking.

DAO are an idea that is just beginning. We can frame this as we are looking at DAO 1.0. Over the next few years, another version will emerge, DAO 2.0. Imagine the potential when DAO 5.0 is available.

Once again, cryptocurrency is changing things in ways we never imagined. Fortunately, this is just getting started.

I have to agree with your conclusions, DAOs definitely are the future but we need to get them off of Discord first and make them truly decentralized.

Most of the big ones I'm following are a one-man show and even if the community wanted to truly change something regarding the protocols they would need to convince the developers to push the code, which isn't really a decentralized way to make decisions and do things collectively.

They need to move communication over to Hive before they can continue their evolution.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well that is still a lot that needs to be done with crypto decentralization. The communication system is still Discord and Telegram.

Of course, we have centralized websites too.

agree not a lot of people know about dao and how it can change the future but as we are in starting era of crypto we have a lot to discover

A truly decentralized DAO would be game-changing but I am not sure if having links to the physical assets would stop the government. After all, they can always seize the land or do other things to prevent or slow down the production of wine. It would be easier if it was dealing with digital assets.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Very true, but if those physical assets were in crypto friendly locations it would make it much harder for governments of the mind to seize them to get access to them. The U.S. gov could easily shut down a winery in CA, but marching into El Salvador is an entirely different look.

As a winemaker without a million dollars to buy a winery, this is a very interesting project to myself. #winex

Really interesting and can see why there are many benefits for this to take place. I had in my head what the DAO maker was doing with our seed investments lol and thought it was just a launch pad.

What I envision from this post is how many businesses could be funded by a dedicated dao, the returns of the business shared back into the DAO and Token holders, for example, especially in Africa, several farming businesses springing up and getting funded by a Dao and spreading the returns from the farms into the token holders, so many possibilities

It provides outlets for people's crypto holdings.

This is a huge advancement for inclusion.

So in the real sense, DAO makes it possible for any community or group have their tokens, or have different means of investing because a person can be in more than one of these communities and yet, the tokens would have value.

Is this the same way Hive tribes work on Hive-Engine?

Hey @taskmaster4450, here is a little bit of BEER from @pixresteemer for you. Enjoy it!

Do you want to win SOME BEER together with your friends and draw the BEERKING.

That's a really interesting point about how many things in the crypto world have come onto the scene since the SEC/Ripple lawsuit started. They are finally going to get to the end of it and realize they are even further behind.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We keep developing. Things are moving ahead and I think of it as a race towards with governments trying to keep up with innovation.

You know which side I would bet on.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I concur,

A lot of non profit can also be governed through the DAO and also more transparency can be given to any organization through DAO. I think we have yet to see the full power of the DAO. I am sure over a period of years we will see some of it in action.

Non-profits hold enormous potential. There is a lot of things that can be done in that area.

I believe the DAO is the single greatest threat to the old power families structure and NWO. I guarantee they fear this the most.

If every voter ran a Gov Coin DAO server that generated a ubi type coin with a DAO coin. We could have a system of government that’s not exactly direct democracy but one that is more fool proof. These slimy politicians couldn’t hide their game anymore.

When this system is so good people just start using it, it could become a checks and balances to not only voting but how governments operate altogether.

I would love to talk with you about this more.

There are lots of options out there. How politicians involve themselves remains to be seen. There is a challenge for governments in the sense the model is far outdated. We are not living in exclusively a physical world.

I think having a system that give incentives to participate in political discussions with a similar format like how Hive works can out perform the current political situations and everything would be on a blockchain. Everything from local community development to national issues.

This is exciting, taking business start up to a new level, it gives cryptocurrencies another dimension of use case. We have a similar thing in Solar energy on Hive Solairitas I wonder how that project is doing.

Being able to buy into a business through tokenization in decentralized is going to be a game changer.

I havent heard of anything in a long time. I think it stalled getting going.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I only found out about this recently, and also wonder what's happening with it? I believe it's in phase 2, but I don't remember what that consists of.

I haven't taken the initiative to check on developments, though I own some 10 SOL and I do get upvotes for the Solairitas account.

About the same here.

I recognize the power of the DAO, !BRO

I'm chomping at the bits to see everyone else catch up. !LOL

There are many times in my life I've felt disempowered at the hands of some kind of authority or another, and one of the ones at the top of my list is electronic devices. I'm tired of getting what I get instead of what I want. Even the laptop I'm using has some kind of ass hat block on it that keeps me from running a different operating system from a thumb drive.

My phone has photographic capability that far surpasses my needs, while still lacking in functionality I'd like to have, especially considering the price tage they carry.

Wine is fine, but when are we going to build a DAO that snipes the most advanced minds from the tech giants and puts them to work for us?

How long before we take control of the direction of progress instead of just trying to keep up with it?

I want a DAO that buys Elon Musk's global satellite network and puts it in the public domain, then buys Musk, himself, for the same. !LOL

Wine is fine, but when are we going to build a DAO that snipes the most advanced minds from the tech giants and puts them to work for us?

Have to start somewhere and grow from there. That means we have to experiment with different approaches. This is one. ConstitutionDAO was another.
