Technology is changing a lot of things. It is also bringing up enormous possibilities.
In cryptocurrency, we often discuss the idea of a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). This is, as the name implies, an entity that is completely automated. So far, the premise is that it is run via smart contract coding. governance can be handled through tokenized voting.
So far, we have not seen much headway with this. There is a valid reason. The part about autonomous makes it difficult.
How can you have a company operate completely within the digital world? This is rather hard to do. Our present structures ensure that we need to interact with the "real world" somehow.
In this article we will look at a potential concept, the automated media company.

Automated Media DAOs
Will it be possible to have media companies that are DAOs?
This is something to consider. At first glance it might seem preposterous, when looking deeper, along with mapping out the trend in AI applications, we can see how it is possible.
Naturally, we are dealing with projection and speculation. There is no guarantee that AI advancement keeps happening at the same pace. That said, we cannot say that it will not continue.
AI is already making headway with different forms of media.
For text, it is getting very good. We see many instances where AI is used in lieu of humans. When it comes to media, i.e. news articles, this is something that is being handled by software.
At the same time, images are starting to get a bit better. In some instances, we see the quality rival what photographers produce. Of course, in others, AI generated images are a train wreck. There is still a lot of work to do there.
Finally we have video. Here is where we are in the embryotic state. AI video is crude. There is nothing remarkable about it other than the fact it is truly remarkable.
While still flawed, the progress is amazing. Video is the toughest of all media to deal with. It appears to be the same for AI.
That said, when we project out, having a media company that presents all these facets together with only minor human interaction is not surprising.
For example, we already have news feeds that are autonomous populated with stories from different sites. This is not something that is difficult to produce. That means that, if we see AI generated stories, populating a field is not difficult.
The Technological Evolution
When it comes to AI, one of the keys is to get things to text. That is the easiest format. This means it is far simpler to go from text to something like video as compared to the other way. Certainly we have software that is able to learn from video yet it is far more costly. For now, text training is still the most cost effective.
If we look at the progression, writing up news stories, as an example, is not going to be difficult in the future. This is something that AI actually excels with. We are not looking for a great deal of creativity. Instead, it is just the facts.
Once that is fed in, an article can pop out. From there, it is easy to see how this could turn into a newscast.
Animation has been with us for decades. This is about to be placed on steroids as AI models excel in this area. Over time, we can expect the images to become more realistic. Even if they do not get exact human quality, something that is unlikely, it will work for this purpose.
How about a newscast of AI generated anchors who are fed the software generated articles? Do you see how all of this could connect together? voice is another area we are seeing massive progress.
These are all benefits of generative AI and what is being developed. LLMs are going to be a major component of the broadcast world going forward.
This, naturally, brings up the question of who owns all of this?
For the moment, this is the realm of major corporations. They are going to fight to hold onto what they have. Broadcast entities like Fox (owned by Disney), CNN, and other news outlets have a lot to lose.
Nevertheless, with the fragmentation of the audience, what choice is there. If we get automated media entities tied to digital platforms, that is the proverbial death roll for these corporations. Their power comes from dominating the distribution avenues.
This is all changing.
It is interesting to think about some of the potential that is going to before us.
