Almost natural Mono

A few mono shots as I tend to do on Mondays, but the difference this week is that mostly these images are mono by nature and not by editing, That said of these 7 images 3 I did reduced the saturation/color to give a more mono feel to them, the other 4 are unedited as far as the saturation goes, but I won't say which are which :)

These are all shots taken in the last couple of weeks since I got my new Camera the Sony A7IV and I must say so far I am very happy with it
Starting with this image down by the port on a very foggy morning, this shot may now show how foggy it was but the last shot in this post will

and next up down by the pier at a spot I often walk, around the Cisco Breweries restaurant and bar, that morning it was very icy in spots particularly on the walkway I show in this shot, I ended up walking very slowly and holding the rope fence on the right to get to the end of this walkway and off the ice

That morning I walked along the shoreline to East Beach, this pier as you can see was covered in snow but luckily not so icy, and from the footprints before I walked out on it you can see I wasnt the first one there

This was just after the recent blizzard we had I headed to Fort Tabor, including a walk on the beach which had a good cover of snow on it and some breaking away and floating out on the water by the pier

I then took a walk around Fort Rodman as you can see on the left of the fort the walkways there had mostly been cleared

My guess is the "East Beach" pic with footprints was the one you desaturated? Anyway, really nice pics, especially the first one, you should indeed be happy with that. Very atmospheric, beautifully composed and really cool lighting. Noish! :)

Last photograph into the fog really mysterious feel with partial forms adding intrigue!

Ice breaking off the shoreline with pier my favourite with tinge of colour touching into the surroundings.

Oh yes, it was foggy - beautiful dense fog, I love it 😍
The second image is my favourite - it's a lovely long exposure shot.

That's one great thing in winter when it snowed: monochrome photos are easy to take and they look better than when you convert a colour photo into black&white 😊

Thanks for your feedback and I too love the foggy days
and yes that is a cool think about winter so many lend themselves to B&W, and in the case of a few of these they were naturally almost mono :)

I have taken a few photos of a snowy field and forest with a cloudy sky above and wanted to convert them into black&white, but they looked more mono and much better before 😁

The fort reminds me of one here in England down on the south coast. You walk along a stretch of pebbles, a spit as they are known to reach it. I think it’s looked after by English Heritage.

Great images. Doing nicely with that new Sony!!
