Wednesday Walk details around the port

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)

Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

For todays walk I am sharing a walk I took the other day, shock of shock two weeks in a row I am sharing recent walks, with it slowly starting to warm up a habit I hope to keep.

Now I had a clear plan in mind when I went out mid afternoon, to park by the port, a quick stroll around the port, and then head up into the historic district, for both Wednesday walk photos and perhaps to get some images for a Market Friday post.

But as they say

“the best laid plans of mice and men”

The phrase the best laid plans of mice and men conveys the idea that no matter how well prepared one may feel, their plans may still fall apart due to circumstances outside of their control

Things changed when I spotted something I had not seen here, and my plans changed, I will only give a hint of what that was in this post.

But as I said I started walking by the port looking for new and different subjects and saw this rusty metal platform thingy tied up to the dock

Across from the port is a hotel and on one of the buildings they have this whale wind vain which I dont think I had ever noticed till this walk

I then headed to a spot by the Hurricane barrier wall and saw these ducks, not sure what type of ducks they are but a different type from the normal ones I see here.

next stop was at Fort Tabor, I was walking around the shore of the park and snapped this shot of the lighthouse on top of Fort Rodman.

And finishing off this post with the hint I said I would give this was taken at the port.

Weekly giveaway of shares

This week I am sending to the following who joined Wednesday Walk, for this week I did a random draw and the following each received some Hive @cmplxty, @aimharryianne, @danhyelita24 #sammy00, and @miljo76

And @elizacheng will send to @mellanna

As @elizacheng and I collaborated with our Wednesday Walk and Make me Smile Challenges

And one person is randomly drawn who joins both challenges to receive one Hive from me and this week it is @TBA

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

Make me Smile Collaboration

As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng,

Here are the rules for her challenge

Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem, drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.
b. Your content must be ORIGINAL CONTENT
c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Great #wednesdaywalk capturing some of the cool details we often don't take time to notice 👍 Even better all the details have a nautical theme 🙂

thanks, I am trying to make a point of looking for different things when I get out for walks to keep some variety in the post I share

have a good day

First rusty number SE 39 Boston Mass perhaps refers to direction SE and a pier number possibly, interestingly impressive!

Whale wind vein another unique display, nice outing finding everything (well almost) nautical.

@tipu curate

that could well be what the numbers mean I never thought of that

perhaps I should have stayed all nautical in this post, I did have other details that would have fitted, but since it was a Wednesday walk post I felt i needed to show i walked further than just the port

Felt nautical to me, loads of fun seeing what you have encompassed within your walks. 😅

👍🙂👍

oldie port

Never seen a wind vane with a shark on top, it's interesting.
Anyway, posting directly on Wednesday Walk community doesn't have to use #wednesdaywalk tag separately, right?

it was such a unique wind vane

and yes that fine you dont need to use the tag separately

got to love old signs and worn out buildings, soaked with history and ambience.

OHh yeah :)

👍

Really cool images! That whale looks so cute! I’m surprised you noticed it late, probably because it’s in a place not rarely seen?

My first time to know about that phrase by the way. I’m glad I learned something new. I’ll try to use it (show it off) to my friends 😜

thanks, I think why I had not noticed it before most times i visited there in the past was it was early morning and not much light

That shot of the captains wheel is awesome. Probably my favorite of the bunch. We have had some sunny days lately, but the wind has been a little too rough to make it enjoyable out. I know we will get there eventually!

thanks I loved that shot, have more of that boat I will share sometime, I think you will like those also

yeah same here with the wind, I think yesterday was the only day of recent with hardly any wind and 55F was pleasant out

That sounds incredible. I'm looking forward to seeing those pictures when you share them!

👍🙂👍

Love your shots and journey once again!

Today, I am taking a walking tour in town with a new employee to visit some businesses. Should make for a neat weds walk post if you are into colourful little town squares!

thanks and yes I am looking forward to seeing a colorful town square

I know that feeling of planning my day and then how things then work out completely different from what I had planned...lol.

The hint in your last photo...? Did you get caught with boats...?

You'll find my post for this week here.

sometimes plans changing are frustrating sometimes even better than what was originally planned

thanks for sharing your link I will visit your post shortly

no I didnt get caught but i was chasing one :)

sometimes plans changing are frustrating sometimes even better than what was originally planned

That is very true!

no I didnt get caught but i was chasing one :)

I left the word "up" out by accident...lol. So it gave my sentence a new meaning...lol.

I meant "did you get caught up with boats"...meaning you got busy with boats😅.

Sorry...my silly mistake.

Did you catch the boat you were chasing? I suppose that will be another post?

Have a great day, @tattoodjay👍!

Yes indeed i did get caught up with boats well one in Particular LOL

😉👍

I know that I have slacked off in posting for #wednesdaywalk. That's because I have been so busy at ... work, office, work, office... has been my life lately. Until last weekend! !LOL

Was a sailing ship in the port? It looks very interesting 🤓

I like the good ones 😎😁

The port is so different from anything here. It strikes me you could have a guessing game to see which country the photos come from. I think yours are pretty uniquely MA/US.

OHH yeah it is different from ones I have seen previously with so many commercial fishing boats

Thanks for sharign your link a lovely post :)

Thanks, of course!

👍🙂👍

"the best laid plans of mice and men".

what a good phrase, the truth is that I was totally unaware of the existence of this phrase, I see that it represents everything that ruins our plans being things that we can not control and are out of our hands.

Every day you learn something new, I'm a fan of your posts about Wednesday walk challenge.

But from the whole post I have to admit that if I had a house I would put that whale wind vain, it's very cool.

I have to admit I have been tempted to put a weather vane on our roof but have seen so many cool ones I cant decide which style I want

Hmm maybe thats a future post just of weather vanes

When I was younger I had a friend who had a whole system to measure the weather in his house, there were a lot of weather vanes, things to measure the humidity of the room, it was incredible and since then I've always wanted to have that in my house.

So if you do a post on that, I'd love to read it.

I set up something like that years ago in a house i had, it was cool to be able to monitor it all, if I got a weather vane here it would be more decorative than functional

I like that whale wind vein! That's pretty cool!

Isnt it just, I have thought at time sof putting a weather vane up on our place, but there are so many cool ones I have seen I cannot decide which one i like most

That’s awesome thank you man! I saw the hive in my wallet and wanted to send some love your way!

Beautiful shots as always, I love finding those things you don’t normally look for but end up being a pretty cool subject like the rusted sign and New Bedford sign!

most welcome

thanks and have a great day

-Thanks a lot Sir @tattoodjay for sharing the beautiful photos and for the blessing, may God bless you more! Have a blessed day!

Here is my entry into the #wednesdaywalk and #makemesmile

Hope you like my entry..thanks for reading!!!😇🙏

It looks like an amazing place to spend a sunny day.

Ohh it truly is always something new to see

Great shots from your walk at the port. The ducks seem to be quite comfortable, enjoying the water and I love that last picture of the captain's wheel. Thank you for sharing and do enjoy Thursday ahead :}

thanks and you to have a good day and the rest of the week

Your shots are so neat and lovely

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Have a great day

You are welcome friend

Great shot of the Fort from a distance! It really takes a beating from the weather. Is that entire thing made of wood? I like the top of it. :)

What is that first picture?!! Is that an old ship's wheel? Is that a schooner???

I love weathervanes, They are more prevalent on the shore than they are here. Makes sense, but, it is one of the things I notice, except on the farms!

You know that walks are always so fun with you! I'm late, but, I am posting in #WednesdayWalk. I know, unbelievable, right?

How do you like the sea calling you by name every day? :)

yeah the lighthouse structure on top of the fort is all wood

the first photo is of some big metal structure I had not seen before, it was tied up to one of the piers could perhaps have been some sort of floating temporary pier but not really sure

spot on about the ships wheel :)

I do love all the weather vanes i see here, makes me wonder why I have never done a post just about them

Just visited your post and loved it

Brilliant! I would love to see a weathervane post. It is one of those posts that will fit any time.

Now, I am curious about that first shot.

If you have seen one of those wheels, one doesn't forget it. Plus, we have The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, and there are always some oldies to look at.

I remain fascinated with lighthouses and want to do a tour of the Michigan Coastline someday - they have something like 175 lighthouses around the Great Lakes!

I must be on the lookout and get a series of weathervane shots for a future post, I have shared most i have seen so far

I love seeing the old schooners, they have such style, not tomorrows but next weeks (possibly) Market Friday post will show the boat that wheel was on

that would be so cool do that tour there,i never knew they had so many there

I had a summer house on the upper part of the Great Lakes and saw many, every time I traveled there. I was shocked! I looked it uo a few years later and saw how many!

You would love it!

I think the prettiest on I have ever seen is the Porland Lighthouse in Maine.

I remember seeing a few on the great lakes when I visited there once many years ago

now off to google the Porland Lighthouse ;)

Really nice pictures here !PIMP

You must be killin' it out here!
