Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!
Nothing But A Dirt Box!
OOOOOHHHHHH Sheeeeesssshhhh!
A 5R55! Oh boy oh boy these are whack stuff to work on! Not my favourite at all!
I've never tore one down but I have removed quite a few from vehicles and this is not a vehicle that you'd be jumping after and if it's a 4x4 you've got even more crap on your plate!
Nothing fun about these!
Quite the fascination! I've never seen something like this before! NEVER! As I pulled out the torque converter this shaft came sliding out with the converter! ohhhh I bet you'd kick yourself if you forgot this thing and fitted the transmission!
A quick oil change would do wonders for you sir! AHHHHH WHACK! At-least they cleaned the internals for us quite nicely! A waste of oil and energy!
I Spy With My Little Eye!
Metal! Oh I think this one broke badly!
Where there is metal chunks and shavings there is bound to be something worn out completely!
Loving the idea of having half of the valve body built into the casing! That is one way to go! Although I think this was when Ford knew what they were doing!
Check out those veins! Oh those lovely veins! I'ma tell bossman real soon that we need to get a hurry up with the manuals I want to get in on this automatic action!
A Majestic Thing!
Okay! Soooooo for my first tear down this thing is actually a little scary!
To be honest I doubt I'd be able to get this thing closed up again, fortunately that is not my concern now! However if given enough time I can close anything up!
As I pulled out the oil pump everything fell out of place! But that is because it is broken!
A Bunch Of Broken Stuff!
The first thing I noticed was this speed sensor that was cracked up, that gave it away that something inside the transmission got ripped apart and spun around in there! Hectic, it caused even more damage!
They might have made this a whole lot worse especially after the oil change and all that, they must have tried driving it after the oil change and even just having the vehicle in idle caused more damage!
I don't mean to be negative at all but I doubt we will be able to find any of these parts... not even OEM parts from Ford themselves! I highly doubt it!
Dangit Those Teeth Knockers!
So bossman said I should also remove these two caps at the side of the transmission! I was hoping he didn't mind them staying in! But it seems they need to be removed because they can have issues there!
I was fearful for getting them out, or fearful might not be the right word... more like concerned for messing them up!
Bossman told me they were spring loaded and I almost got a fright then! Are they really going to knock out my teeth?
Bossman wasn't wrong at all! This one is quite messed up! It's also the one that the pin broke off from! So it makes sense! It's actually nice to see all the damage bundled up like this!
The other cap was okay but since we are going to replace the other one we might as well replace this one too.
Almost Unbelievable Right?
Heck I would not have thought all of this can come out of this damned auto box!
Taking a look at the casing I'd never have guessed! But then again all of this is pressed into one another so it makes up for a lot of wasted space.
Whelp this is bossman's problem now! Goodluck bossman call on me if you need some assistance! Where does this part go? "Well somewhere inside this casing!
LAUGHS!!!!!
