Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!
So It Begins!
Let's rip this one up today! Yesterday we fixed up the other one that has been standing idly for about three months and now it's this one's turn!
They have an immense amount of work to get everything back in place and this one... well this one has a little more work cut out! I'll point out why later on in the post!
I have to add that I am somewhat growing fond of them!
The Battlefront!
Okay yeah I know we ain't playing games now! This is do or die!
Yes I could have skipped out on the cleaning of all these parts but no way in hell would I have had enjoyment in fitting all that dirty shit back into the vehicle!
Soaped up and left for a few minutes to return later and WAP the crap off them for GOOD!
I doubt it'll stay clean for long there is a slight leak on the engine side as well, we wont be touching those today though!
The reason why this specific job has so much work! Now whoever tore the vehicle down didn't have the guts to try and remove the cv's from the wheel hubs! Okay... not a big problem but a tedious problem! This is going to be a mission to get them fitted back in! Yeah I tried removing them but to no avail! I understand why the stripper didn't!
Transmission is fitted! But now we've another headache that we slightly missed when tearing down the car! Or the information wasn't relayed properly!
Iced Coffee?
But first before we tend to head aches! Some Iced Coffee? Well it's melted already, the other bloaks said this stuff aint nice! Well I'll snatch it right up if they don't want it! I do love myself an iced coffee!
The Problematic Headache!
Now this is going to be one for the books! I'm glad I thought ahead!
I remember the guy who removed it said that the transfer had not a drop of oil in it!
Not a drop? That's real bad right? It must have had some? Either or...
I decided to discuss this further with bossman and he said fill it up with oil and fit it, it's the clients problem. Now that may be correct but still!
I filled her up with oil and kept her standing on the table, I knew something was going to be up! Because when I wapped it I saw piece of the seal actually flying out... Not good!
She's Nasty!
So long story short! I filled her with oil and tilted the transfer to the side of the suspected damaged seal! LAUGHS! The oil came pouring out! Not dripping out! POURING!
We had no choice but to fix it up! It's not a lot of work either and neither is it a lot of money! Yeah we lost on this but a seal and 30 minutes wont cost us a lifetime!
Three Pieces Of One!
The seal was literally ripped into three parts! How does this happen? I don't have the faintest Idea! What I do suspect is that it might be sand or ground that got caught up in there and eventually worked the seal to bits, but also not!
Let's just debunk it as a failure and leave it right there!
I can really pat myself on the back for this! If I just went ahead and fitted it I would have had a hell of a shitty day when this thing came back to the shop all leaking out oil!
This is really a weird break though? It's like the seal just twisted right off!
Nice And Snug!
I just couldn't help myself! I had to clean out the casings and everything as deep as I could! At-least this guy is sort of getting a rebuild? Sort of? Even though nothing is damaged! Except for the seal!
I am a little baffled that the differential wasn't damaged at all! The teeth on the gear still had the machine marks on it! That never happens!
