A fantasy romance! Definitely what I need to get out of my reading slump.

This is the very first time I'm reading something by Jennifer Armentrout, and I must say I'm really impressed.

The first thing that caught my attention in this novel, was it's catchy cover. It has such a drool worthy and steamy cover, that you can't help but want to see if the plot matches it.

At first, the entire plot seemed like a cheesy, steamy romance. And even if the cover had already caught my attention, it might not have been enough to keep me flipping through the pages of this novel, seeing that I have had my fair share of cheesy romance reads this year.

In "White Hot Kiss", we follow the steamy plot where a major protagonist, Layla, who is considered an abnormality, because she is half-warden and half-demon. Wardens are gargolytes who fight off demon, and it kept me wondering if Layla was going to be fighting her demons.

Layla however, takes it upon herself, to 'tag' demons, so Wardens can get rid of them as well as kiss out the soul of anyone (who has one).

This makes dating Layla near impossible.
However, demons are not immune to love.
Layla has a huge crush on Zayne, who is purely Warden, and sees Layla only as a sister.

Moreover, he is expected to marry a Warden female and have kids who would continue the bloodline of Wardens, and this pretty much rules Layla out since she's half-demon and half-warden.

Everything is going well until she meets and begins to develop feelings for an even greater demon than herself, Roth.

Roth is what I would call a bad boy demon. He is the direct opposite of Zayne who is infact bland and boring.

Which is why, it shouldn't be a thing of surprise for you, if immediately say I'm team Roth.

This books is really great start of an trilogy amazing, which I'm a little too eager to complete.

Honestly, there are so many parts of this book I should unravel to you, but doing so would mean giving you major spoilers, and I wouldn't want to take away the experience of you having to read it for the first time.

All the emotions, the thrill, the suspense, the anticipation, and the silent curses while I hurriedly flipped through the pages of this novel, is something you should definitely get to experience once in a life.

However, in my opinion, character wise, we do not get to see a lot of Zayne in this book, and while I'm already team Roth, I would have like to see some part of him, that at least posed him as a better competition.

I would have to read other parts of this trilogy, to better understand a "White Hot Kiss", seeing that while it had the potential to be a stand alone novel, it wasn't one.

Do I recommend this book? Yes. I would have to give it to the author. The scenes were descriptive, enrapturing and clear. I was able to picture the words as images because of her incredible writing.

I am currently reading the next part of the trilogy, and cannot wait to discuss in another review, what I think.

Stop, I'll share it!😭😂
Blood and Ash. It's a series and it's really really long. Been reading it for a while now;)

This reminds me of how I love monster and demon romance back then. It's been so long. It's as if they all just vanished or my bookish friends and I grew out of them. I miss simplistic tropes like this one. A beautiful review you've written. A delight it was, reading it

Monster and demon romance hits differently ngl. I mostly don't come across them but when I do, it's always a blast. Thanks for the compliment my darling. Have a great week ahead.
