El dΓa de hoy traigo un recopilatorio del dΓa de los preparativos previos, cΓ³mo fue el dΓa de las operaciones, y un par de dΓas siguientes durante su recuperaciΓ³n.
TambiΓ©n este post es una constancia de a dΓ³nde y cΓ³mo fueron invertidos los fondos recaudados, porque como dice el dicho, "cuentas claras mantienen amistades", y yo utilicΓ© mis recompenzas de Hive y PowerDown para comprar medicamentos y comida extra para esas semanas.
Que por cierto, este domingo por la noche desactivarΓ© el PowerDown para comenzar a crecer en HivePower (si me sigues, notaras que los ΓΊltimos dΓas he estado muy activa, y eso se debe a que quiero aumentar mi poder de voto drΓ‘sticamente este 2025, es tiempo de retribuirle a Hive).
πΊπΈ ~ FRIENDS WE MADE IT! We managed to raise enough money to take 6 of the 12 cats in our villa cat colony to surgery! πΉ π° π©Ί
Today I bring a compilation of the day of the previous preparations, as was the day of the operations, and a few following days during his recovery.
Also, this post is a record of where and how the funds raised were invested, because as the saying goes, clean accounts keep friendships alive, and I used my Hive and PowerDown rewards to buy medication and extra food for those weeks.

β¦ We should be at the vet center at 7am! β¦
β¦ But in the morning it started to rain and the cats were very nervous, we had to cover them with a blanket to protect them from the water and to calm them down β¦
β¦ The trip was difficult because some of them were peeing and pooping, so when we arrived the first thing we did was clean each one carefully and put them back in their baskets; the one that was more nervous we covered with a towel β¦

β¦ The doctors were very nice and helped us move all the cats into the small lobby while everything was being prepared for payment. They showed me this piece of paper with different prices for different amounts of services (surgery, surgery plus declawing, surgery plus declawing and post-op girdle. I chose to pay for 6 surgeries plus nail trimming) β¦
β¦ The account also includes deworming pills, ecological bedding, and diarrhea medication. 50$ is to be paid in cash and the rest by bank transfer β¦

β¦ The time to look for them is uncertain because you have to wait for them to react after the anesthesia β¦
Felizmente informo que con la venta de los lazos mas la recepciΓ³n de donaciones, logramos recaudar 50 USD en efectivo y 5.012 Bs (el equivalente a 105.93 USD en ese momento), con ello logramos pagar 6 cirugΓas de esterilizaciΓ³n, con todos los medicamentos post-operatorios incluidos, tambiΓ©n insumos como papel higiΓ©nico, toallas humedas, spray antisΓ©ptico especial de uso veterinario, 4 KG de alimento concentrado, 2 baΓ±os para gato, sustrato ecolΓ³gico para rellenarlos; tambiΓ©n algo de medicamentos extra.
I am happy to report that with the sale of the bows and the receipt of donations, we managed to collect 50 USD in cash and 5,012 Bs (the equivalent of 105.93 USD at that time), with which we were able to pay for 6 sterilization surgeries, including all post-operative medications, also supplies such as toilet paper, wet wipes, special antiseptic spray for veterinary use, 4 KG of concentrated food, 2 cat baths, ecological substrate to fill them; also some extra medications.

Ese dΓa despuΓ©s de llevar a las mininas a su operaciΓ³n, regresamos a casa aproximadamente a las 10 am porque no hay sitio donde sentarte y esperar en el centro veterinario, tambien porque toma muchΓsimas horas. El resto de la tarde lo dediquΓ© a organizar los insumos en la sala de la casa que un vecino nos prestΓ³ tan amablemente para resguardar a las gatitas y poder seguir todas las indicaciones despuΓ©s de sus operaciones.
That day, after taking the kittens to their surgeries, we returned home around 10 am because there is no place to sit and wait at the vet center, also because it takes many hours. The rest of the afternoon was spent organizing the supplies in the living room of the house that a neighbor kindly lent us to house the kittens and to be able to follow all the instructions after their surgeries.
Mi corazΓ³n no deja de agradecer toda la ayuda que recibimos, porque ademΓ‘s de dinero los vecinos nos donaron gasas, jabΓ³n neutro, y detergentes para mantener la zona donde descansarΓan las mininas bien higienizado.
My heart goes out to all the help we received, because in addition to money the neighbors donated gauze, neutral soap and detergent to keep the area where the kittens would rest well sanitized.
Oh, y recibimos la llamada para buscar a todas las gatas ya muy entrada la noche, casi a las 9 pm, fue un poco angustioso el trayecto para buscarlas porque se fue la luz en esa zona de la ciudad y todo estaba en penumbra, ADEMAS: La camioneta de la vecina que nos ayudo en la maΓ±ana se daΓ±Γ³, no querΓa encender, asΓ que tuvimos que pedirle socorro a un vecino con un auto muy pequeΓ±o pero con mucho cariΓ±o el staff del centro veterinario nos ayudΓ³ prestΓ‘ndonos kennels que sΓ cupieran en el auto, Β‘son unos Γ‘ngeles!
Oh, and we got the call to look for all the cats very late at night, almost 9 p.m., it was a bit scary the trip to look for them because the power was out in that area of the city and everything was in darkness. Additionally: The van of the neighbor who helped us in the morning was damaged, it would not start, so we had to ask a neighbor with a very small car to help us, but with much affection the staff of the veterinary center helped us by lending us kennels that fit in the car, they are angels!

β¦ The kittens, even under the effects of the anesthesia, put up quite a fight to place their post-operative girdles, I could only place 4 out of 6 cats. I put them on a quilted blanket and they slept all night without problems, the ones not in the picture were more awake and hid under the kitchen β¦
β¦ Everyone was wide awake the next morning! They had eaten all the food I had left the night before, and it was time to administer the first dose of medication, but first they had to eat breakfast β¦

β¦ According to the instructions of the veterinarians, we must first spray the contents of the capsules of gastric protector, give a portion to each kitten, wait 30 minutes, and also that they eat to administer antibiotics, analgesics and anti-inflammatories. A partir de este momento los dΓas transcurrieron en hacer 3 visitas a la casa donde estaban guardadas las michis, y cumplir una rutina de ventilaciΓ³n, limpieza, alimentaciΓ³n, y cambio de faja post operatoria. Fue especialmente difΓcil hacer las limpiezas a las suturas porque como imaginaras, las gatitas se alteraban mucho por la incomodidad de la sensaciΓ³n de la gasa raspΓ‘ndolas, pero era necesario para que no acumularan costras y evitar asΓ complicaciones a la hora del retiro de puntos, que estaba programado para el 10 de Diciembre.
From that moment on, the days went by with 3 visits to the house where the kittens were being kept, and a routine of ventilation, cleaning, feeding, and changing the post-operative girdle. It was especially difficult to clean the stitches because, as you can imagine, the kittens were very upset by the discomfort of the sensation of the gauze scraping them, but it was necessary so that they would not accumulate scabs and thus avoid complications at the time of stitch removal, which was scheduled for December 10th.
Fueron dΓas muy bonitos para mi porque cuidar animales es algo que siempre he querido hacer, y es extraordinariamente reconfortante saber que el esfuerzo vale la pena porque la vida de los gatitos esterilizados es mucho mejor, ya no sufrirΓ‘n viendo a sus crΓas morir en la calle ni verΓ‘n su salud comprometida por complicaciones durante el embarazo.
They were very nice days for me because caring for animals is something I have always wanted to do, and it is extraordinarily comforting to know that the effort is worth it because the lives of the sterilized kittens are so much better, they will no longer suffer to see their babies die on the streets or see their health compromised by complications during pregnancy.

β¦ These baskets were lent to us by neighbors who wanted to help us with the transfer of the kittens, unfortunately the kennels are very expensive and I could not buy them in time, but this option worked well! β¦

Estoy muy agradecida por el voto de confianza de todos los que de una u otra manera nos ayudaron con los recursos que necesitΓ‘bamos para hacer esto posible.
Literalmente, me dieron las llaves de una casa para poder cuidar a las gatitas y eso es una enorme responsabilidad, me asegure de lavar muy bien el piso durante esas casi 3 semanas para que no hubiera nada en el ambiente que pudiera complicar la recuperaciΓ³n de las michis.
Fueron dΓas extenuantes entre trabajar, limpiar mi propia casa, cocinar, ir a la casa de las gatitas a darles sus medicamentos, las limpiezas, y volver a mi hogar para seguir con mis responsabilidades, aun me duelen las piernas porque fue un constante subir y bajar escaleras muchas muchas veces al dΓa.
En la segunda y ultima parte de esta aventura gatuna, compartirΓ© los ΓΊltimos dΓas de cuidados, la visita para consulta veterinaria y retiro de puntos, y retorno de las gatitas a las Γ‘reas donde hacΓan vida antes de esta "abducciΓ³n" XD
I'm very grateful for the vote of confidence from everyone who in one way or another helped us with the resources we needed to make this possible.
They literally gave me the keys to a house to take care of the kittens, and that is a huge responsibility, I made sure to wash the floor very well during those almost 3 weeks so that there was nothing in the environment that could complicate the recovery of the kittens.
Those were exhausting days between working, cleaning my own house, cooking, going to the kittens' house to give them their medications, cleaning, and going back to my house to continue my responsibilities, my legs still hurt from the constant up and down stairs many times a day.
In the second and last part of this cat adventure, I will tell you about the last days of care, the visit to the vet and the removal of the stitches, and the return of the kitties to the areas where they lived before this "kidnapping" XD
