This is the soundtrack of our lives... or I suppose we all have our own unique sonic comfort blankets that we've patched together over time. I've listened to a little bit of everything, and I definitely have a LONG list of favorite tunes to draw from. So #ThreeTuneTuesday, which I just stumbled upon, is right up my alley.
Before I get into my list, make sure you check out the ORIGINAL POST for this week's details... and follow @ablaze to stay tuned in to this curious weekly music trail!
Sigh... 1992. Good times.
I was eight years old (oops... aged myself) living in our capital city, Ottawa, with my parents and older brother. My world was baseball and bubble gum... girls were gross and the days weren't nearly long enough.
It really was a good time in my life. I enjoyed myself.
And looking back, the whole 90's decade is one of my favorite musical eras... no question! It was such a diverse pool of talented, creative people. So many different genres and styles were on full display, and it seemed everyone was still paying close attention.
No More Ado... Let's Get Into #TTT!
I feel like every trip down the list of 1992 song and album releases would produce a completely different list, depending on how I'm feeling. But here's what I put together for you... my three-tune 1992 mixed tape. (I think it's pretty rad. 😎)
Note: There is no particular order of importance.
"I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU" by Whitney Houston
Whitney belongs on every list, I do believe... and this song from the film THE BODYGUARD starring herself and Kevin Costner has become one of her iconic hits. A must listen, even if it's not necessarily your cup of tea. If it is, you might dig the whole SOUNDTRACK.
In any case: Whitney is an original diva. Credit where it's due.
"ENID" by The Barenaked Ladies
This is one of the better-known tunes off the hit album, "Gordon". If you're not familiar with these dudes, you just may fall in love for a spell. Very creative stuff. The song "Brian Wilson" is another favorite of mine from the same album. And I honestly think THE ALBUM itself should be on every #music lover's shelf. There... I said it. 😏
"CHANGE" by Blind Melon
This unique band still has a strong cult following, and they produced quite a few radio hits during their short road before the lead singer, Shannon Hoon, died of an overdose. This song from their 1992 debut SELF-TITLED ALBUM is one of my favorites... more pure and simple than other album selections, but I highly recommend giving the whole thing a listen.
There you have it... the quintessential #tunes list for the year 1992... or at least my best effort this time around. Now it's your turn! Don't forget to check out @ablaze's list-- also great stuff-- and read HIS POST to get all the details.
And remember, kids:
IF IT'S TOO LOUD, YOU'RE TOO OLD.
