State of the Union - Not Buying It. The State of American Politics as Seen by The Dood.

Just a quick post on American politics. I'm so done with it all. I lasted a whole 15 minutes watching the state of the union. Actually 10 minutes longer than I thought I'd last. 😁 I just couldn't sit through it.

The State of the Union starts with the cameras panning across the audience showing members of congress and other political figures in attendance. Looking at congress I'm actually sickened looking at a sea of gray-haired dated old people who have literally destroyed our country. This is not the same place I grew up in. It all went to hell after Sept. 11th and these old bastards are the people responsible. They've eroded our rights away to nothing and continue to take more. WE NEED TERM LIMITS. It's really that simple. Most of these old-timers haven't worked a real job outside the government. Their entire life has been funded by the taxpayer and most of them live like billionaires with huge mansions and private jets. Sickening really and it's obvious something is really wrong with that scenario.

The President begins his speech. I can't help but wonder if we took the last 30 to 60 years of State of the Union addresses and listened to them back to back if they'd sound exactly the same. The only thing that really changes is the current conflict we're in. Replace Ukraine, with Iraq, Panama, Korea, or Vietnam and you're likely to get the exact same speech going on about jobs, infrastructure, oil prices, etc. Maybe squeeze in some "new" "woke politics" to change things up a bit.

My point to this is, NOTHING CHANGES! The outbursts from several party members are not surprising. I think it shows just how turbulent the atmosphere of American politics really is. The corruption, the lies, the manipulation. I think even the politicians are starting to turn on each other.

Seriously, if you haven't figured it out yet. The two-party system no longer works. I personally don't think congress or the rest of the government can be fixed. With that said, I don't know how to fix this, but I do know we can't carry on like this. The other thing I know is the US can't take much more of this. If we don't get a strong president and fix congress, it's just a matter of time until things go from bad to worse.

You can almost feel it in the air. People are fed up with the shitshow that has become Washington. IMHO if things don't change soon, the SHTF soon. I can't even imagine what this next election is going to be like.

Is it just me, or does the Vice President always look like she's smirking? Her facial expression reminded me of someone who's pursing her lips together trying not to break out in laughter. Does anyone else get that vibe or is it just me? Seriously...

A few predictions:

In the US, most people have gotten past the covid narrative. The press still keeps the story alive though. I predict a huge outbreak of Covid right before the election. I SINCERELY HOPE I'M WRONG. But I want it on the record because, in my heart, I know I'm right and some will call it a coincidence, but I'll call it "by design" and link to this post 🤣

This one is also a no-brainer. This is going to be a shitshow like no other. THERE ARE NO GOOD CANDIDATES that I can think of. Whoever they select for the primaries will be just more of the same AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH PARTY YOU VOTE FOR. The officials have been bought and paid for by their corporate interests on BOTH SIDES. They (our representatives) no longer "represent" you or me. I'm going to be generous and say this goes for about 90% of them, maybe a few of them still care. At this point, who knows?

The Trump circus will come to town and probably divide the Republican party further. Joe Biden seems pretty adamant about running for a second term. This is going to cause a lot of drama on the Democrat side because a lot of his own party wants him gone. Still, this could be the perfect recipe to give Creepy Joe a second term.

I'm smirking as I write this because the American public might look and act stupid from time to time, but they're smart enough to see through all this bullshit. I'm really curious to see how much of this they take before Americans start acting like Americans again.

Not that anyone asked, but that's my two sats! What a mess!

On a final note, I couldn't imagine anyone even wanting the job of becoming part of that cesspool. The dirty politics, the lack of privacy, the corruption, the lies, the manipulation. This could be a huge part of the problem. Who in their right mind would even want to put themselves and their family members through all that? The smart people among us, are smart enough to not get involved in politics and I'm really wondering if that's by design as well.

I agree - term limits are necessary! However, who of those in congress is going to vote for that? Which state is going to vote for that when none others will?

Power is what keeps them going back. They say that they've "served" the people for such and such years, but I say they have fleeced the people. Look at our country's debt, and they still can't stop spending or limit their spending (I have to live within my income level). Let's see what happens if all get paid the same amount (doesn't matter how long they've been there), they and their immediate family aren't allowed to buy and sell on the market (no more inside trading), no retirement package, etc. Anything they pass would have to apply to them, including their healthcare options. But, since they control those items, including giving themselves raises, it's not going to happen.

A government job shouldn't pay more than private sector jobs. I don't even know why we have so many government jobs. Oh, I take that back, it's because they've come up with so many unnecessary programs.

Well said and couldn't agree more. They create these programs to create jobs and spend the tax money. It's also interesting how they get a lot of these programs funded, by slipping them into other bills. Another thing that has to stop. Every bill is the length of a well-written novel and they slip all their "pork" programs in or they don't get their vote. It's horrifying, and you know nobody is reading these bills they're presented with even though that's their job. I could go on and on... It's a proper mess that much is for sure.

Whenever I sit down to watch the news, my blood pressure goes up because the news always shows such news that makes a person very sad inside.

Same here. I try to stay informed, but I also try to avoid it. I tend to tune into mainstream news once or twice a week and limit it to that.

:P those old bastards!! :)

yea, same old B.S.

at least the VP is amused..

She looks like the cat that ate the canary! ALWAYS

😂🤣

I lasted a whole 15 minutes watching the state of the union.

17 minutes longer than me..

LOL, it was tough! 🤣

You have great patience that you watched it for 15 minutes, I may not be able to watch it for more than 5 minutes. :P

It was really tough sitting through that much. I was honestly surprised I made it that long myself. 🤣

I don't think there are easy answers. Big issues like Russia, COVID and climate change will not just go away regardless of who is in charge, but when you have two parties dominating they need to cooperate for the good of the country rather than trying to score points off each other. I'm sure some politicians want more civilized debate, but those stirring things up get all the publicity.

It's not that different here really, but it's the system we are stuck with.

Personally I think it could be a lot worse if Trump had won again. The guy is a walking disaster. Politics is all about compromise.

but when you have two parties dominating they need to cooperate for the good of the country rather than trying to score points off each other.

Yes, this has gotten really bad. It was always a problem, but I don't think it's politics with these people, it's personal. In other words, they don't care if it's good for the people if it came from the opposing party, they'll vote it down regardless. They've actually made EVERYTHING political now. (not always, but most issues seem this way)

It's not that different here really, but it's the system we are stuck with.

Seems like a global consensus at this point with leadership around the world.

Again with the compromise. I agree. Trump is a trainwreck. The guy has to learn how to get out of his own way. On top of that, he just makes it way too easy for the press to manipulate him, or portray him in a bad light. I don't think the country could handle another 4 to 8 years of that either.

SMH, crazy times!
