The Alliance is a Team
When The Alliance was first created, it was apparent, that to get anywhere on this platform, one would need some help. One would need a team. And thus, it was hatched. Only, I didn't just want it to be a team. It had to be more.
Believe it or not, The Alliance was one of the first actual communities on Hive, birthing on the legacy chain - Steem, before communities even existed as a sub-menu on #peakd or #hiveblog.
We have since, just as Hive has, evolved from having actual blogging classes and paid for bot voters to syndicates and discord bots to what we have now. All the while, there is one thing that has remained and will continue to, throughout the marathon we run with all of you dedicated enough to be involved.
The Alliance is a Family
Yes. A family. A support system wasn't going to be enough. We had to have something that separated us (and still does) from other communities. Something that has carried into other ones as well. You can join our server. That doesn't make you family. You can join our trail. That doesn't make you family. You can even delegate to our primary curation account but again - that doesn't make you family. (That being said, there will be changes made to the way we vote now.) You can even do all three and that still won't make you family.
What makes you family is the engagement. Being there. Showing you care about more than just a vote. Yes, we ask for delegations, but that is so we can help others. By helping others first, you then start to help yourself. Ever heard the term or phrase 'pay it forward'? We do just that. Anyone on our trail or delegating to our curation account is also doing that and in doing so, expect(s) nothing in return. The return comes when the love is shown and grown beyond a monetary presence.
We also strive to help others when we can. We have helped raise up dozens (if not more) of communities and initiatives on and surrounding the #hiverse. Credit given or not, people know. We are not affiliated with any particular sect or align ourselves with any governmental issues. We accept anyone for who they are and what they want to become.
How To
Moving forward, there will only be one way to join the family. We have had many a vote seeker, which is fine, but that is not what we are about. First, you will have to join us in the Castle. From there, you will be directed to a specific channel upon which, you will be directed back here to comment that you understand what The Alliance is. Then, and only then, will you be allowed to speak/type in the Castle. Once this is done, there will be a 'getting to know you' channel, where we will all do exactly that. Once people feel they know you well enough, you have delegated to the family account (@thealliance) and shown you are willing to run this race with us, then we will see about getting you set up for our constant support. We want to help you, we really do, but you have to prove you are willing to help others and are really what the fam is about.
The Purge
These happen relatively often, believe it or not, where we adjust our percentages and the like. However, this one, is a full overhaul of the Castle members and our voting habits. We are supporting many people that are delegating to the family account that we haven't seen comment a single time on anyone's posts or even shown up in the Castle. We are getting back to what we are. So, if you have been removed from the voter and the Castle entirely, you may just fall into that category. Now, you know what you should do.
