A week ago I discussed how much I enjoy the Virgin Islands, both the American and British. If you haven't had a chance to visit put it on the bucket list because it is well worth while. While Virgin Gorda remains my favorite a very close second has to be St. John's which is one of the American owned islands. Two thirds of the island is a protected park where nothing can be built so it is a very sparsely populated island, but extremely beautiful! I'll include a picture below of what you can expect there!
Continuing on today with some coins I picked up while I was living in the islands back in the day. I picked up a few of these produced in 1985 as part of the sunken ship treasures of the Caribbean series produced for the British Virgin Islands by The Franklin Mint. This coin is the sword gullion of the series honoring all the lost treasures laying at the bottom of the Caribbean sea. Believe me there is still so many undiscovered gold filled shipwrecks out there just waiting to be found!
This coin is a beautiful proof finish coin inside a protective capsule, but sadly at some point some moron removed it and allowed the obverse to get some scratches. I got a good deal because of it but it's still a very cool coin! It features a much younger Queen Elizabeth on the obverse. The reverse has the sword gullion as I mentioned previously. I think it's a pretty cool coin overall!
