POBphotocontest New Round: DECORATIONS ~ handmade ceramic decanters

in #hive-150329last year

With this week's theme for the #pobphotocontest being decorations, the first thing that popped into my head was my Mom. Boy, didn't she love crafting! You can't look around our home without seeing something that she gave us as a gift. Mom would make everything in sets of five, one for each of her children.
Name a special occasion, and you were given a treasure that becomes more valuable with the passing of time. Displayed on a shelf overhanging our entranceway to our dining room are just a few of these jewels.

A few of these pieces of artwork I have displayed on a shelf in our den. The decanters face our desktop and are a sweet reminder of a very special #LADY.

This is pretty cool 😎

Yes it is.

Hey cool contest!

Definitely not that speed of decoration but i might have to take a tour of the neighbourhood and snap some of the display starting to go up!

So wonderful to have a life of craftiness reverberate when you are gone to cause joy for the next generation. She is blessed to have you enjoy them and miss her like you do.

Is this your place? If it is you should enter the contest.

Haha no. I am too much of a Grinch to decorate that much. We have some stuff to put out but I let the ladies do that.

Sorry for the late reply but our computer got hacked. It has been a real nightmare trying to get everything back in line.

That house was decorated to the nines, a little much for my taste, but to each their own.

Good idea to let the ladies do their own thing, that way you're off of the hook.

I hope you had a better Thanksgiving than we did.

Just a normal work day up here above the border. Sorry to hear about the hacking! That is never easy to deal with and leaves you with such a mess to clean up! Hopefully the turkey made up for it.

It took several days to get everything back to normal. New bank accounts, dealing with direct deposits and payments to vendors, and hours spent with tech services made for a very stressful few days.

You hear about this stuff, take precautions, and you can still get burned.

Enough with the whining, in the big picture it was nothing more than a blip on the screen, even if it did cost us a few bucks.

All these have quite a character, I even imagined them all photographed with dramatic hard light, coming from below. Maybe this would darken a bit their aura but still... :D

Sorry for the late reply. Our computer got hacked and we just got it all straightened out today. They sure are special.

Oh my goodness... How did that happen?

To make a long story short, they got in through PayPal and once they were in they took control of our computer. What a hassle over the last for days. New bank accounts, calls to get direct deposits and withdrawals back online, and hours upon hours spent with tech support restoring everything.

What a nightmare. I'll never use PayPal.

I am basically forced to use PayPal, as from time to time I get payments from the photo stock agencies I share my highest quality photographs for licensing. I used Payoneer for about a couple of years, but they changed their fees and terms and conditions quite aggressively so I had to delete my account there, as they even introduced a fee for not making certain amount of transactions.
I think you should definitely share your experience here, so others avoid falling into the same trap.
I suppose the entry was through a phishing link? Or the app?
When I returned to PayPal I decided I won't install their mobile app, nor keep any funds there. As soon as I get a deposit, I sent everything to my bank account :)

It was through a phishing link and when I look back at the situation now I feel like a fool.

When I first went to the bank I told the banker that was helping me get things back in order just that, I feel like a fool.
As soon as I said that, she said don't feel that way it happens all of the time. When I got to the bank it was about 2:30 and she said that this was the 7th case like mine that she was dealing with that day. On average her office deals with over fifty such cases like this a week. She also stated that ever since Covid the number of scams has skyrocketed. She believes the reason is that so many people were sitting at home with little to do that the ones with advanced skills decided to join in on scamming others.

Society is surely changing and not for the good.

By the way, I forgot to mention, I almost fall for a similar trap a few weeks ago, but my instinct kicked in in the right moment, thankfully :)
Hopefully some day that scammer pays for the stollen.

I'm glad you avoided that situation, no one should have to go through what we went through.

that would be nice, but the chances of getting caught seem slight to none. For these low lives, hopefully, what goes around will come around and they will be able to experience the pain that they have caused others.

I see. It really feels like a pandemic, right? I am trying to comprehend the bigger picture in the last few years since covid started, then all those wars around us.
I think the root cause of all our troubles is the greed and the desire for even more power. Also, the huge economical discrepancies among some countries. I've been doing my own research on some average wages and it seems for the same job one could get EUR 25 per month in Venezuela compared to EUR 5500 per month in Luxembourg. Even in my country, for the same job if one is hired in the capital, the wontly wage for exactly the same work could be three times bigger. But why is that? The food prices are the same, gas prices too, only less time to commute and rent a home is cheaper but not in the same ratio. Plenty of people here say there is unwritten cartel agreements to limit the wages. This all leads to lots of angry people, in my opinion. It is sad to see so many people go to the dark side, but unfortunately I have to agree there is some global logic in it.

Making a living wage here in the States is also dependent on where you live. Things in my neck of the woods have improved as there are not enough folks to fill all of the jobs that are out there. This situation has employers scrambling to find good help and compete with each other. Jobs that once paid less than $10.00/hr are now as high as $17.00.

Once you have turned to the dark side I'm sure it's hard to return to working 9 to 5.
