The Forest Planting and Checking Activities In Initao Forest Park

Last day, me and my classmates decided to do tree planting together with the DENR [Department of Environmental and Natural Resources] group in Initao, Misamis Oriental. Here in this place we can also located the Initao Forest Park. As part of our Forestry and Agriculture program, we decided to conduct planting and checking trees including the ages and life span of the tress in the place.

This kind of activities is normal for in Agricultural sector, it helps to keep the environment clean and fresh because of the trees planted in the vacant areas.

First, we conduct a meeting together with the officers and the personels of the Agricultural sector about the plans we want to do. They all agreed and we set the time and location of our activities. We choosed in Initao, Misamis Oriental and the exact time will be 8 AM. Our gathering venue was in MSU-Naawan campus and around 8:30 AM we started to take travel going to the place.

As we arrived at the place, we started to do a short orientation regarding with the activities. The DENR officers conducted an orientation and guidelines of what to do. We picked more young trees and each trees are already placed in designated areas. We first wears a hard hats so that it can be surely protect from any harm. As part of the Photographer community, I once again given the tasks to take pictures so that we can do documentary reports.

After giving a short orientation topics, the officers also gave us a papers and instructions of the activities. We carefully studied and follow the guidelines . Our activities is not all about planting trees, we also collecting the datas of the trees just like calculating the ages of the trees and the conditions of it.

We put numbers to all trees we completely checked and some of the trees can be found in here are Mahogany and Native tugas trees. This kind of plants are some of the hardest tree and it is perfect to make or do for furniture and other construction porpuses. As we continuing checking the trees, I also noticed that there are many birds flying around the place. I can feel the coolness and freshness of the place because of many trees found.

Some of the members are decided to make tree guard so that the young trees can be protected from harmful animals and it grows instantly. Each member brings a piece of bamboos used for fence of the tree guard.

The Officers also checked our output and we are very happy that we done perfectly. The officers amazed of the works We did during the activities.

We also put marker using this piece of bamboo sticks. Soon, it can have fence here so that the young trees will grow and safe from harmful animals.

This is a simple activities but it brings a big help not only for the residents but also to the environment and in social we lived in.
