The modern league gives the best possible reward for our collection power. I used to play under the wild format but have to switch to the modern format once I noticed that I can play higher leagues with my current collection power.
Unfortunately, it is also more competitive than the wild format.

Haha this is true, because of the best rewards, we tend to stick to the modern format. But I notice that this is where most players focus their deck because of its ability to create massive destruction. I'm finding it difficult to cope though as I might have to upgrade my deck soon. Wild format is being neglected these days.
The wild formats' wide selection of playable cards also seems to make it difficult to choose which card should be add or maximize for our decks.
I also think I liked the way splinterlands added the different format, I think stylishly they know people would want to spend money to upgrade, it's an in-game economic tactics haha
LOL. I agree. But is is also beneficial for us, as we are given the chance to build our decks given the current card prices. I would love to spend to buy some cards if only I have the resources. 😁
Well, I do not have the resources as well and I was hoping for the market to turn out well to buy some card, but FTX happened and now we're fighting for our lives.
