This community has been bringing in interesting and as well minding blowing topics to discuss on so far, aside me been able to share my own point of view am also opportune to learn also. I have been reading people post on this question of the week and I can tell everyone we surely have different opinion about this week question. Before I give my answer to this question, we all need the to know the importance of growing spiritually.
As Christians and followers of Jesus Christ, it is very important for us to be growing spiritually in that we will be able to know God more and have a good relationship with our lord as it is written in 1Peter 2:2-3 “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it, you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good".
It is also written in Ephesians 4:13-15 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.
But do we need a guru or a teacher to grow spiritually?
Well yes, In order to grow spiritually, we need other people that God strategically places in our lives
Growing spiritually is a life-long journey which occurs as you read and apply God's Word to your life, and as well with the help of a teacher too.
There is a story of a man in the bible called Aquila, Aquila is a Jew who stay in Rome with is wife Priscilla, but not long enough the Roman emperor Claudius issued an edict expelling all Jews from the city of Rome. Aquila and is faithful wife Priscilla embarked for the city of Corinth. Although the bible never indicate if Priscilla was a Christian at that time. When they both arrived at Corinth, they both decide on what trade to do in other for them to grow financially, Aquila had acquired the skill of tent making when he was a boy Since tents were such a prominent part of Hebrew life, and later taught it to his wife, and she happily assisted him in his business.
They searched for a space in the marketplace to rent and established their business. Not long enough Aquila and Priscilla was found by apostle Paul who came for a crusade in Athens, apostle Paul would stroll through the marketplace so as to preach the goodness, He came to them, and because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them, and they were working; for by trade they were tent-makers.
Although we do not know whether they were both Christians as at that time but both lives were transformed through apostle Paul's teaching, they always found time for serious Bible study. Sharing the Word together strengthened their love for each other and their spirit of togetherness. And with the help of apostle Paul teaching helps Aquila and Priscilla to grow spiritually.
This story of these two lovebirds in the bible made it clear to us that without the help of apostle Paul's teaching they might not have grown spiritually to that point they were.
