THUNDER CATS MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE
DID YOU HAVE THE 80s TOYS
Following the success of Star Wars toy lines by Kenner and the revelation that Mattel was among the enormous toy companies that passed on the opportunity to produce the toy line, Mattel’s C.E.O Ray Wagner and his team made several unsuccessful attempts at developing a toy line that can attain, if not rival, the success of Kenner’s Star Wars action figures. It was this desperation that bore the He-Man character and subsequently the Masters of the Universe media franchise.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a media franchise with sword and sorcery as well as Sci-Fi genre. Mattel created the media franchise in 1981. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe media franchise consist of lines of action figures, animated television series, comic books, movies, video games, books, and magazines, including newspaper comics. The media franchise began with Mattel’s production of the 5-and-a-half-inch action figures, a commercial success. Minicomics accompanied the action figure in the packaging and presented a story about them.
The main plot of the He-Man and Masters of the Universe media franchise was based on the war between He-Man and Skeletor, depicting a conflict between good and evil.
