Introduction
I feeling really happy today. My daughter is going to a summer day camp this week and made a new friend yesterday. This also means I have a little more time for my personal work and projects, including playing Splinterlands of course.
I'm also really excited about this brawl report because I broke a personal record and won six out of my nine brawls!
I'll begin this post with a brief review of my Splinterlands season so far. Then we'll move on to a report on my sixth brawl with the Hive Pizza Guild: PIZZA 1 The Stuffed Crust. Last, we'll finish this post with my 5th Card Giveaway and the announcement of the winner of Giveaway #3!
Let's Go!
Play Update
This season, I have been playing in the new Modern format. I started in Bronze 3 and made it through Bronze league without too much difficulty. Interestingly, I was able to do this completely with my own collection which felt really nice for a new player like myself. Also, the DEC rewards per win feel higher this season which I love.
Once I hit Silver league though, I started losing and definitely needed to rent higher level cards. My rating is currently at 1,400 and I am sitting in Silver 2. My current plan is to stay in Silver this season, but it may be hard to resist going for gold again. I worked hard for these 7 Silver chests in my last play session, but got some good DEC out of it.
Another super fun aspect to this season has been our Pizza Guild's Bounty Notice Board done by @hurtlocker. This initiative has been super fun in so many ways. First, it has sparked a lot of fun interaction within our guild channel with folks sharing battles and posting bounties. It has also added a fun aspect to my play sessions as I work to defeat magic monsters in battle. So far I've completed four bounties which earned me awesome card delegations and PIZZA at the end of the season.
Guild Brawl Report
I am happy to present the report of my sixth brawl with my amazing guild:
In my past few Brawls I played in Frey 2 with Novice League level caps and all cards playable from Chaos Edition. But in this Brawl, I played with all cards playable, which I was a bit nervous about because my collection is mostly Chaos cards.
When the Brawl started I was at the end of my daily focus where I'd been playing Life. I had some mana cards rented so felt ok about high mana battles. I also had new Gladiator cards in my arsenal that I was very excited to use.
Brawl Link #1🔮 Mana Cap: 23 | ❗️Rulesets: Aim True, Odd Ones Out |
---|---|
The stacked healing of Byzantine Kitty and Sacred Unicorn is too much. My team fights well but the Unicorn becomes near invincible. I need to research Kitty counters. Result: Loser❌ |
Brawl Link #2🔮 Mana Cap: 25 | ❗️Rulesets: Reverse Speed, Equalizer |
---|---|
Only the Water Splinter is active for this brawl. My opponent does not have a Gladiator card. Relenor Cleaver dominates and has an 8 attack by the end :) . Result: Winner ✅ |
Brawl Link #3🔮 Mana Cap: 13 | ❗️Rulesets: Super Sneak & Reverse Speed |
---|---|
I'm so happy I pulled Chimney Wallstop in my last Gladius pack. This brawl is interesting because we took a similar approach, but differed in the position of our 0 mana card and summoner used. Result: Winner ✅ |
Brawl Link #4🔮 Mana Cap: 99 | ❗️Rulesets: Broken Arrows |
---|---|
My opponent did not use a Gladiator card, but still fielded a powerful team that put up a good fight. Knocking out that GF Oshannus also got me a nice 1000 cp bounty. Result: Winner ✅ |
Brawl Link #5🔮 Mana Cap: 52 | ❗️Rulesets: Noxious Fumes, Earthquake |
---|---|
I face Yodin with Chimney and a high hp team. The Blast ability decimated my side. But even without Yodin, my opponent fielded a better team for this ruleset. I need to have a plan for poison next time. Result: Loser❌ |
Brawl Link #6🔮 Mana Cap: 40 | ❗️Rulesets: Heavy Hitters, Taking Sides |
---|---|
This is an amazing brawl. My gladiator Xulax barely gets one hit in before being knocked out. My Magic Necrosi somes to the rescue, sniping the opposition and is the MVP of the match. Result: Winner ✅ |
Brawl Link #7🔮 Mana Cap: 21 | ❗️Rulesets: Target Practice |
---|---|
Although I'm happy to win, this wasn't a particularly interesting brawl. My opponent is in a difficult situation without a Gladiator. Captain Katie and her magic army take out the opposing team by the start of round 3. Winner ✅ |
Brawl Link #8🔮 Mana Cap: 58 | ❗️Rulesets: Stampede, Heavy Hitters |
---|---|
Facing Llama and Kron the Undying, I had slim chances but also should have chosen a different Splinter. I need to research Kron/Llama counters. But generally I feel ok losing to this combo because its so powerful. Result: Loser❌ |
Brawl Link #9🔮 Mana Cap: 58 | ❗️Rulesets: Aim True, Little League |
---|---|
I love brawls like this, where we both approach the brawl in a similar but slightly different way. It's so tense and super fun to see who made the better choices. The healing from my Wood Nymph is clutch in securing the match. Result: Winner ✅ |
I won six out of nine brawls! This surpasses my previous record of winning three out of eight brawls. Progress! In reviewing the above matches, I can see and feel the different in having a wider arsenal of Gladiator cards to choose from. I need to work and research counter attacks for Yodin and Llama. And/or I should consider renting them myself if I am going to play in a Frey with all cards available.
I can't wait til the next brawl and excited to see if I can maintain my win rate or set a new record. .
Courage!
