WEEK 132: Not Pick Me, Just Fit Me

Lately, social media in my country has been stirred up by a battle between the owner of a beauty product (skincare) and a doctor as well as an influencer who posts content about the truth of the content of a cosmetic merch. From those that are not registered with the BPOM (National Agency for Drug and Food Control), to those that are officially registered but overclaimed from the composition and authenticity of the content.

Why does this happen? Imagine...how many merch skincare products are born in a day? From beauty clinic products, to new products that focus on skin care. All of them are competing to hire influencers to market their products.

Have I ever been tempted by those advertisements? Honestly, yes. I've tried package A for acne, package B for brightening, etc. What did I get? I was exhausted because those products don't always work for our skin. The condition of human organs changes, including skin tissue, so every skincare user should upgrade periodically according to their changing needs. That's so tiring!

Not to mention the beauty standards that I think are excessive in my country. I don't know how a tropical country like mine came to have such unreasonable beauty standards, such as: being beautiful in the sense of being white. Very white. In fact, etymologically speaking, my country is not caucasoid, so the standard of beauty does not have to be white. I'm not racist, I just want to explain that all skin colors are beautiful, especially if they are healthy. I respect all skin colors from any part of the world, all are beautiful.

Until one day, I stopped the habit: day and night cream, facial wash, mouisturizer, toner, serum, double cleanser, etc. Etc. It's a lot. Did my skin then become as smooth as an advertising star's fig? Obviously, you know the answer; NO! My face became more sensitive and looked like tired skin.

I finally changed my pattern. Used up the last of my skincare stock then stopped ordering, and what did I use to protect my skin?

  • Sunscreen!

Sunscreen is a must during the day even if you're indoors. As the heatwave level is getting more intense, it would be better if we wisely use sunscreen for the health of our skin.

  • Facial Wash

Of course we have to wash our face especially after using cosmetics. In order to prevent excessive sebum, people will usually use facial wasah products. I have been using this merch Acnes from Rohto Mentholathum for a long time. My skin is not dry but also not oily. I've been using this merch for almost 10 years.

  • Mouisturizer

The third item is the mouisturier which is very useful for moisturizing the skin. I have a very dry face type, so I added mouisturizer as a mandatory item in my daily skincare.

Broadly speaking, I only use those three items. It's not that my skin doesn't get squeaky clean like an advertisement star, but it also stabilizes my skin. There was only one pimple that popped up when I was approaching my period. However, if I don't use too many skincare products, my skin will recover faster.

However, I do have one serum that I use a lot, I usually use it once a week, even though people might think it's not enough, for me it's enough. After exercising regularly, I also indirectly keep my sleep pattern regular, with exercise I drink water regularly. So, what do I get? My body becomes more refreshed, and my facial skin also becomes less dependent on a lot of skincare routines.

In my country there is a term 'pick me girl' for those who have different standards, for example if a woman like me who is minimal about skincare is considered a 'pick me girl', although the connotation of the word is indeed negative, but believe me I am not a pick me girl, I just want people's awareness to be healed, fixed so that they are more mindful and not impulsive when shopping for skincare. You have to be careful, about the ingredients, as well as the issue of official permission from the relevant governing body.

That's my description for this week's KISS. I'm very grateful for the great theme of KISS. I can get my thoughts out and say: all women and all skin colors are beautiful. I love you, all.Thank You..

Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.

please share my content if you feel my content is good for everyone to read. Thank you. Let's be friends!

Ha! You read my mind with this post. I'm currently in a similar phase where my skin is looking and feeling tired/sensitive due to an overload of products. So I'm also minimizing when and how I can. :) While there are some gems of products out there, our body typically doesn't need that many things that often to thrive :)

totally agree. We just need to observe ourselves better. I'm glad we can share stories each other. Thanks for the support and stopping by, @honeydue have a nice day.

Thanks a lot for the support and love @minimalistliving and @millycf1976 🥳

You're very welcome:)

If there's one thing I find hard, it is implementing so many products in my routine. My skin isn't so sensitive but I can't bear the heat that comes with applying many products during the day. It's nice that you don't use too many products on your skin and those little ones you use work for you. Hold them tight, many of us haven't found the perfect for our skin type

hey.. i feel you, i can't stand the burning sensation from using a product as much as you, besides my skin is sensitive. Yes, i understand that feeling very well, that's why i'm grateful to have found the right method for myself. Thank you for your support and discussion, dear @oluchi31

Have a great day!
