March used to be springtime with winter bursts. This year March is more like hard winter with bursts of spring. This is something I never expected, having snow in the middle of March. I think this is the first time in decades that something similar happened.
So, here we are surrounded by daisies and snowy mountain peaks at the same time.
Depending on where you look at, you can see different seasons. Interesting, but still weird!
We are coming close to the end of olive trees pruning time. While we walk amongst flowery fields, we can also see here and there the remains of the fires the farmers light in order to burn the cut branches. Not the best way, but it is very expensive to rent a chopper so I can't blame them. Not to mention that the terrain is chopper unfriendly in most cases.
49 kilometers from the capital city Agios Nikolaos walking on the old national road. The sign fell and in the future it will be probably lost under the vegetation. Too heavy for me to pick it up though.
We are once again, like every morning, in our favorite dog walk, talking the circular route above the village of Mirsini, in Eastern Crete.
A village known for its amazing view. And believe me, this guy knows where the best spots are.
This is what he is looking at. It is windy, cold and cloudy. But he loves it. I feel cold, but I never miss my walking routine no matter what the weather is.
Some details of the quite old-fashioned watering system and in the third picture a simple, clear stone-age way to tell your neighbors that they are not welcomed to pass with their car through your field.
Not the best quality photo, but this is what it is like down by the sea.
I don't think the plants expected this cold either. The sage is blooming and the fig tree slowly wakes up. And of course anemones!
In this walk, that took place yesterday morning, we started three, but one left a bit earlier and preferred to take some photos of the village that was better protected by the wind. Our dog, Markos, was completely astonished by the departure of @fotostef, but this way you can enjoy a walk in our beautiful village at his post :)
This is my #wednesdaywalk contribution for the wonderful challenge that @tattoodjay has initiated and to which I am quite addicted every week :)
Happy walks everyone!
