Trees waking up, flowers blossoming and new plantings. I am so grateful for this small piece of land that was passed down to us recently and we try to convert it to a herb (and partly vegetable) garden, and the olive groves that people have trusted us to take care of.
It has been a long winter and this has increased the levels of joy as the weather changes.
Working the slightly wet from the rain soil and observing mother nature giving birth to new life once again in perfect silence and harmony. Right now, at this point of my life, I can't imagine a better place to be other than close to this transformation.
Plenty of almonds for this year and the buds on the olive trees are a good omen for an abundant harvest next year, depending, as always, mostly on the weather and little to our power.
Still plenty of lemons.
Let's visit the herb garden. New inhabitants have arrived. A laurel tree, a lemon tree and a linden tree.
---Look at this beautiful pink color.---
We also planted some potatoes. The potato seeds were about 10kg, we'll see how much we will harvest. The first year we planted potatoes we had a 1/10 success, but never managed that success story again. Organic compost and organic chicken manure were used.
Some more babies are ready for planting. Υarrow - Achillea millefolium, thyme, St. John's wort - Hypericum perforatum and samphire.
What is gardening without experimentation?
The onions are growing nice amongst the rosemary plants.
Rosehips, blueberries and one precious tamarillo joined our company as well.
@fotostef is worried about the tamarillo. It looks tired, but I hope that it is going to love its new home. We wanted more plants, but I was able to find only this one little guy. I love zoom for these kind of moments that the other can't even think what you are doing :)
Much as we have worked on the watering system, it is not fully ready yet, so carrying water with the buckets at least for the trees.
And while others work hard, this furry guy is exhausted by running up and down the hill supervising every move we make. As for me, someone has to take the photos for the #gardenjournal, no?
This chair, accompanied by the whole cute set, under the shadow of the trees is as close to paradise I could think of today. Even without pillows :)
I would love to invite @becominghuman and @rukeros! Any garden news to share?
All photos are mine, apart from the one that I am in and is taken by @fotostef.
Happy gardening everyone! Connecting with our plants might be the best way in order to grow as they do and share our gifts as they abundantly share their fruits.
