Hey people, happy Sunday to you all, I hope you went to church? Or you practically had a fun Sunday. Hehe So it's day 11 of this writing prompt I put together to help ma onboardees and others in our WhatsApp group have something to write everyday. Today's today Is “Describes your mindfulness practice”
So guys, let me tell you about this mindfulness practice I've been doing. It's no small thing! It has two main parts: listening to music and getting good sleep. This practice has turned my life around, and I'll explain why it works wonders for me.
First, let's talk about the music side. Music is life! I'm not just listening to any random sounds. I've figured out the kind of music that re-motivates and energizes me. It's like fuel for my body and mind.
Every morning, as I wake up, I play my special playlist. Sometimes it's soft blues that calms my mind. Other times, it's some local Afrobeats that make my body move on its own. The important thing is that the music sets the tone for my whole day.
As the music plays, the rhythm in my body. It makes my blood flow well. Even before I get out of bed, my mind has already started to become active. The lyrics of the songs give me inspiration. Some days, it's like the artist is singing about my own life, giving me advice on how to tackle my problems.
The beauty of this music practice is that it's flexible. If I wake up and my body feels heavy, I can play some upbeat songs that energize me quickly. If my mind is too busy and I need to calm down, I'll switch to some cool, relaxing tunes. I'm the DJ of my own life.
But it's not just for the morning. Throughout the day, anytime I feel my energy is low or my motivation is running out, I just plug in my earphones and blast some music. It works like magic! Within minutes, I feel like a new person, ready to face anything life throws at me.
Now, let's talk about the second part of my mindfulness practice: getting Good sleep. This is a serious matter because Good sleep is what prepares the ground for everything else.
At night, after I've done all my work and my brain is tired, I use music again to prepare myself for sleep. But this time, I play soft, gentle songs. The kind of music that makes your eyes close by themselves.
As I lie down in bed, I focus on the melody, the rhythm, and the words of the song. This is like an exercise for my mind. Instead of my thoughts wandering around like a busy marketplace, the music helps me concentrate on one thing.
This bedtime ritual has helped me tremendously to improve my sleep quality. Before, I used to struggle to sleep, my mind full of worries and things I needed to do tomorrow. But now, with this music practice, I fall asleep faster and I sleep deeper.
And it's not just that. The kind of sleep I'm getting now is much better than before. I wake up feeling fresh, as if my body was serviced during the night. My mind is clear, ready to face whatever the new day brings.
The combination of this music practice and better sleep has really changed my life. It has improved my mood significantly. Before, I used to always be cranky and easily annoyed. But now, it's like I have extra patience. Small things that used to provoke me before don't bother me anymore.
It has also boosted my productivity. Because I sleep well and wake up with good energy, I can concentrate better on my work. Things that used to be difficult for me before, I now handle them like child's play.
Another benefit I've noticed is that my creativity has increased. As I listen to different kinds of music, it opens my mind to new ideas on stuff I work with.
This mindfulness practice has also helped me manage stress better. Before, a little pressure and I would be panicking. But now, anytime I feel things are too much, I just put on my headphones, play some cool music, and take deep breaths. It works like water poured on fire.
I would advise anybody who hasn't tried this kind of practice to give it a chance. Start small. Maybe just 10 minutes in the morning to listen to music that motivates you. Then at night, play soft music as you prepare to sleep. Gradually, you'll begin to notice the difference.
Remember that the music that works for you may not be the same as what works for me. So experiment with numerous types and artists until you find one that your body and mind respond to positively.
At last, this mindfulness practice is unique to each individual. You'll understand what your body need. But I can assure you that since I began this, my life has improved. I feel more focused, energized, and prepared to handle whatever life throws at me.
