The Story of the Calendar, the dreamland of Porumbacu de Sus, Sibiu county, Romania
Hello my dear followers and visitors of my post today.
I hope you are well and that your life is going on peacefully, initially these days I wanted to write some posts about my experience in the Holy Land, Israel(around the beginning of 2023).
As you may have seen on TV or online there right now the country is going through terror, and frankly I couldn't concentrate to write even one post.
So I dropped the first idea and decided to write another post about a fairytale place a place that introduces you to a magical world.
The story of visiting this place begins somewhere in early September this year on a weekend day, a sunny and perfect day for relaxing in a fairyland.
The Story of the Calendar is an interactive park with a very interesting concept that appeals not only to the little ones but also to the adults.
Where is it located?
This theme park is located in Porumbacu de Sus, Sibiu county, Romania.
The price of an adult ticket is 25lei/5euro/person.
Opening hours are Monday-Friday:10-18 and Saturday-Sunday:09-19.
The ticket house resembled a tree (or tree house), the trees were decorated with Christmas specific items, yes it looks like we will be spending some time here.
The concept of this park is as interesting as can be, inside the park we will be able to switch from one month to another from one season to another in just a few minutes.
How can we do that?
In short, the park is made up of houses decorated according to each month of the year (12 houses), each house having something specific to the season it belongs to.
Wait, don't think that the park has only these cottages here you can spend enough time to relax (I'll tell you a little later what activities you can have here).
Let's explore the fairytale land of Porumbacu de Sus.
I would like to tell you that the names of the months of the year here bear ancient names, names that today we rarely find in rural or mountainous areas of Romania, which is why I actually don't know how to translate them into English.
After I paid the entrance fee and took a few steps inside I was already speechless from the beginning, the pictures started to flow one after the other.
We begin our foray into the world of fairy tales with the gingerbread house, the house that corresponds to the month of January (in popular language it is called Gerar), here we meet the world of sweets, gingerbread, cinnamon.
At each entry in these boxes we find a poem specially created for each month of the year, plus we have the possibility to scan QR codes for even more information.
Let's move on to Valentine's month, February (popular language it is called Faurar), here as I'm sure you've realised is a romantic setting, hearts, angel wings, romantic songs.
Slowly we are approaching spring and we are heading into March (popularly called Martisor) where you can learn to cook many amazing dishes.
In the next house, the one of April (popular name Prier) children can play chess, rummy and many other interactive games inside.
Next is a month that I say is loved by many people, the month of flowers, the month of May (popular name Florist) a month with a lot of color, sensitivity, which often without the help of words manage to say a lot.
June, the month with taste, the month that I wait for year after year (popular name Ciresar) in this calendar period in my garden cherries ripen, an avalanche of color and taste.
We also have a house of the hottest month of the year, July (popular name Oven), inside you can find creative workshops for children, from painting to weaving.
Maybe many of you think that this theme park is only for children, I will come and argue that this park is indeed for families with children but at the same time it is for all ages.
Why do I say that?
Because here you find other activities to do such as relaxation areas, archery areas, an agreement lake (10lei/2euro/3minutes), train ride or boat.
August (popular name Gustar) is the month represented by a solar flower.
Slowly we are heading towards autumn and we are going into September (popular name (Rapciune), again a spectacular time of the year, nature seems to fall asleep and hibernation seems to begin, every day the colour of the trees changes to gold from that raw green.
October is a scary month (popular name Brumarel), the cold is already present, people are preparing for winter.
The same with the month of November (popularly called Brumar) everyone awaits the arrival of one of the most beautiful months of the year.
Yes, it is the month of December (Undrea), the month of gifts, the month of winter holidays, the month of joy, at least here in Romania is a very busy month with many events.
My dears this is the Story of the Calendar here in Romania and if you happen to be in Sibiu county think about putting this place on the map.
