Exploring a beautiful rainforest canyon near Vancouver, Canada

in #hive-1949132 years ago

I have a slight obsession with canyons, so when my friend offered to show me a canyon that he had stumbled across I immediately said yes. He told me it was his best find yet, and he assured me that he was not exaggerating. After a short hike up a logging road, we cut through some bushes and used his rope to descend the steep slope into the canyon.

It was a cool, late spring day with misty rain and the water was painfully frigid. We waded up the creek, doing our best to avoid deep pools of water and slipping on the slick rocks. Morgan was wearing waders, I was not. Suffice to say the deepest pools were somewhat unpleasant 😂

But that minor discomfort is a small price to pay. The section of canyon that awaited us felt like paradise.

Peripeteia (2022)

Time lost meaning and the busy world faded away in the beautiful solitude. I could not stop admiring the verdant canyon walls. I enjoyed omitting the main waterfall from the above frame, creating a more intimate feeling of mystery. What lies beyond the corner?

Natural Walls (2022)

At the end of the canyon was a beautiful waterfall that few have laid eyes upon. My goal with this composition was to create a balance between the various textures in the rock and flora. I also wanted to capture just how deep the canyon felt at this point, with the walls going straight up and out of frame.

Dreamstate (2022)

The forest above was beautifully foggy, so I switched to a wide angle lens to pull it in while maintaining a strong frame with the canyon walls.

I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed making them. As usual, don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions!
