Today, I Wanted To Scream!

in #life3 years ago

Today, I wanted to scream. So much anger, was bubbling up in me, as I came face to face with one of the men, who Rusty used to live with. The last time I saw him, was Thursday. When I found Rusty, and saw that he, was very close to dying. Now he was outside my truck, demanding to have him back.

This morning I got a phone call from the vet, who believed that Rusty’s best chance of survival, would be to come home with me. This exactly how I felt and I was so relieved that he too felt the same. Rusty was still refusing food and the vet felt it was more to do with his mood. So I arranged a lift to the clinic, with a very good friend of mine and we set off just before midday to get him.

My girls were so excited to hear that he was coming home and so was I. I was in such high spirits on the trip over, which took about 40mins. When I got there, Rusty looked so happy to see me, as I scooped him up into my arms.

When I was there yesterday, I had asked the vet to write me letter about the dangers of Pavo, so that I could give it to the men, where Rusty came from. Explaining that Rusty could not return and they would be unable to have any unvaccinated puppies there for at least two years as that is as long as Pavo stays on the land. He had the letter waiting for me as well as clear instructions as to his treatment.

It felt so good to take him out of there and when we reached the car, Rusty was physically a lot more relaxed. I had him on my lap the whole way home and had left the girls the responsibility of making a comfortable bed for him.

He was surrounded by love when he returned and really happy to see my girls. They had made him a wonderful bed in a crate and we continue our day, making sure some he was always near him. He slept on and off and then suddenly there was a visitor outside my truck, along with the owner of the land that I live on.

There in front of me, was the young man, demanding once again that I give Rusty back. I just couldn’t believe it, firstly how he knew Rusty had returned and also that he was here, after he clearly showed that he didn’t care about him as he was prepared to let him die.

It was so obvious on Thursday, that Rusty was extremely sick and yet how m and his brother did nothing for him.

I had to use a translator to express how I felt and to explain, that the vet only allowed Rusty to be discharged, because he believed, I could encourage him to eat. If he doesn’t eat in the next few days he may not survive. If I was to hand him over to someone else, he would almost certainly die.

The man just didn’t care and also that insisted that he see Rusty because he didn’t believe he was that sick or that he had even been at the vets. Luckily, I had got my friend to take a picture of me with Rusty at the vets, whilst I visited him yesterday. As I had already thought that they may think this way.

He then went on to say, that his dad was good friends with the vet and that he would call him to make inquires. I said please do phone him and he can also tell you how long he was in and how much the bill was.

At this point I realized that the man was hoping to catch me out, hoping that I was in fact lying, even though I had given him the letter from the vet. Suddenly he told me, I could buy Rusty for 150 euro. He said it so quickly I almost missed it. I had to ask him if he really said that.

So of course I have agreed to buy him, how can you put a price on a being and one so special as Rusty. I once made a promise to myself that I would never buy a dog, that there are far too many stray dogs that need to be rescued, but this is different.

So vet bills, plus now having to buy him, my beautiful Rusty is turning out to be one expensive wee puppy. If anyone wishes to help me fund all of this, I would be forever grateful. Healing energy for the next few days would also be equally welcome. At least this little guy stays with us now, no matter how long his life may be. Which really is the best gift of all!

Rusty would be so lucky to have to stay with you.
You are really giving you all with taking care of stray animals
Well done

Thanks so much @ijohnsen xxxxx

Wow o Wow! Can’t believe the actual owner can come back after neglecting him. Funny how people fail to appreciate what they have until they eventually lose it. Good thing Rusty is now in safe , caring , responsible and capable hands. Don’t stop the good works!! 😊😊

Thank you @typebox, yeah I couldn't believe it either, but he obviously saw an opportunity to make money and took it. Crazy how he did it though xxxx

Yh right ! That’s just life .. seems people can make some dough from bad situations.

Rusty and yourself found yourselves in a very nasty situation. Unfortunately I am familiar with the attitude of the former owner. This whole story could have happened in Greece too, actually it does happen all the time and giving money to those men is the only way to save the animals.
I hope Rusty will get better, I know that he has now the best possible care!

Thank you @fotostef, yes I can imagine it is very similar over in Greece, so many animals are in need, it's heart breaking to think of them all. Rusty is doing really well now xxxx

That's great news :)
Have a lovely night!
