I was browsing Facebook yesterday and came across a guy from my area, selling some old coins and shit he "inherited". Sent him a message, turn out most was junk, but I did strike a deal for a silver piece that picked my interest. His initial price was 20 euro but I managed to take it down to 8.
So, meet my latest addition:
Just look at that hard working pleb!
My first silver commie piece! I already had some Nazi ones, it's nice to have something from the opposite part of the history in my stack!
Chances are you can't read Russian, so this is a 1 Poltinnik from 1924. The backside reads in Russian "ПРОЛЕТАРИИ ВСЕХ СТРАН, СОЕДИНЯИТЕСЬ! СС СР ОДИН ПОЛТИННИК" which in capitalist English translates to "Workers of the world, unite! USSR One Poltinnik".
The edge is also engraved in text "ЧИСТОГО СЕРЕБРА 9 ГРАММ (2 З. 10,5 Д.) П∙Л"
Which translates to "Pure silver 9 gram (2 Z. 10,5 D.) P∙L"
This is a high purity coin btw, 10 g of metal of 0.900 silver. Nice!!!
When it comes to size, it's slightly bigger than a 2 euro coin:
So, 8 euros for 9 grams of silver is a bit steep considering the spot price, but after doing some googling I found these coins at this condition go for 10 or more so I think I did well.
Funnily, the seller seemed quite sketchy from up close and even messaged me later that day how he may contact me in the future if he "finds" any other coins. Lmao. Oh well, none of my business where he finds his goods 🤣
